The background has been blacked out by hand to emphasize the overall shape of each object. The shadows have been compressed in the direction of their length, according to the trigonometric relationship between an object's height (-->H), the length of its shadow (-->Ls), and the tangent of the Sun's elevation angle (-->A), above the surface on which the shadow falls. This relationship is: H = Ls tan(A).
Because the first four Cuspids appear to be situated on a fairly horizontal surface, the value of angle A was taken from the NASA support data to be the Sun's elevation above the horizon - 10,9° - and the images of the shadows were compressed by the value of that angle's tangent, such as 0,193°.
A greater compression, corresponding to a Sun angle of 8° (tan(8) = 0,14) was used for the profile of Cuspid 5 because its shadow falls over the surface of the rectangular "trench", which is sloping downward away from the Sun, thus effectively decreasing the Sun's elevation above the surface. (…)
The detailed contours of the objects are lost in these profiles due to the irregularities of the lunar surface and due to the blurring caused by the image compression algorithm. However, the general shapes of all the objects – except the first – can still be clearly seen to differ radically from the shapes of common lunar boulders and ridges.
The profiles suggest that Cuspids 2 through 5 have heights greater than their widths, which would be a very unstable placement for a randomly placed boulder and even more unusual for a cluster of them.
The hills and ridges of the Moon tend to be very low and rounded. The great lunar mountain Pico Mons in Mare Imbrium, for example, has a height only 16% of its width.
Cuspids 2 though 4 are conical or pyramidal, while Cuspid 5 (still the tallest even with a lower Sun angle assumed) appears to be a cylinder. Based on the assumption that the sun's elevation is 8° above the slope on which Cuspid 5's shadow is being cast, the object itself would have a height of approximately 15 meters. (…)

Le orchestrine dell'idiozia televisiva e calcistica, pagate dai padroni che sono già saliti sulle scialuppe per primi, stanno ancora suonando. Per distrarci e non farci sapere che i compartimenti del nostro transatlantico sono già allagati.
Già: perché non è che l'Italia «rischi di affondare»: sta già affondando da mesi.
La nostra piccola industria è devastata in tutti i settori in cui era «forte» (tessile, oreficeria, meccanica, calzaturifici, mobili) dalla competizione cinese. Perché i nostri micro-imprenditori (ex operai, diventati ricchi, ma rimasti ignoranti) hanno continuato a sviluppare questi settori stramaturi, non avendo i mezzi intellettuali per lanciarsi nelle attività che vinceranno in futuro: «biotecnologie, informatica applicata, energia, trasporti di terza generazione".
«Tutte le inefficienze degli anni passati adesso si iniziano a pagare. Il conto sarà salato, e lo si paga con posti di lavoro in meno».
È solo questione di mesi, e poi - tra il 2006 e il 2007 - i posti di lavoro cominceranno a scomparire a cascata, a migliaia.
Il nostro popolo che adora il «posto fisso» forse smetterà di guardare l'«Isola dei famosi»?
Si affollerà attorno alle scialuppe?
Non ci sono scialuppe.
Siamo un popolo con sei milioni di analfabeti.
Un popolo che non ha studiato, e che è avanzato negli ultimi 20 anni di storia senza mai pensare un minuto, cullandosi nell'illusione che il suo dozzinale benessere sarebbe stato eterno.

of Itokawa. Due to the low altitude and solar elevation angles, we can see detailed topography in the high-latitude regions. There are even some boulders on Muses-Sea, which looked very smooth in previous observations. Imagine one of these boulders flying in space. If it came to the Earth's vicinity, we would observe it as a tiny independent near-Earth asteroid. It has long been conjectured that meteorites are fragments of asteroids delivered to the Earth's surface, but it remains to be proven. The samples of Itokawa collected and returned by Hayabusa could provide the first direct evidence of the link between asteroids and meteorites.

The blobs are giant elliptical galaxies roughly 2 to 4 BLY away. The bull's-eye patterns are created as the light from galaxies twice as far away is distorted into circular shapes by the gravity of the giant elliptical galaxies.
This phenomenon is called Gravitational Lensing, first predicted by Albert Einstein almost a century ago.
Gravitational Lensing occurs when the gravitational field from a massive object warps space and deflects light from a distant object behind it.
The bull's-eye patterns are so-called "Einstein rings", which are the most elegant manifestation of the "Lensing" phenomenon.
Einstein's Rings are produced when (at least) two galaxies are, from our viewpoint, almost perfectly aligned, one behind the other.

(detail mgnf)606 visiteGli elementi che dovrebbero - almeno in teoria! - aiutarci a distinguere i meri "riflessi" dagli "oggetti reali" (e tralasciamo i photoartifacts) sono, in accordo agli insegnamenti dei nostri Esperti di fotografia spaziale:
1) la "diffusione" del colore nell'oggetto ripreso (la quale deve essere uniforme e definita);
2) la "densità cromatica" dell'oggetto ripreso (un effetto di - cosiddetta - "trasparenza", in genere, è indice di "riflesso" mentre la "corposità", al contrario, è indice di "realtà fisica");
3) la possibile (o NON possibile) riconduzione dell'oggetto ripreso ad una feature interna alla Navicella Spaziale (per es.: verificare l'esistenza di led e/o light switches nelle prossimità della finestrella da cui la ripresa è stata effettuata) ed infine
4) (elemento quest'ultimo iper-soggettivo ed imponderabile ma, secondo noi, decisivo quanto se non più dei primi 3) la "sensibilità ed esperienza" dell'Analista.
Ciò premesso, secondo noi questa luce è un (affascinante) riflesso.

NGC-1748-00.jpgNebula N83B alias NGC 174858 visite"...Turbinando lungo la parete, l'aria sembrava avere la forza sufficiente per sollevarlo e portarlo con sé in direzione del Sole ma, improvvisamente, i contorni divennero nitidi dando alla sua Ragione appena il tempo di prendere il sopravvento sul suo Istinto. Le pupille si strinsero in uno spasmo doloroso mentre rimettevano a fuoco il vuoto che stava per aprirsi sotto di lui.
Fece un salto indietro che lo fece accartocciare su se stesso, con le braccia incrociate intorno alle cosce ed il viso schiacciato sulle ginocchia ossute.
Forse la sua Anima avrebbe potuto trasformarlo nel più evoluto essere alato dell'Universo, ma lui non aveva ancora imparato a guidarne le remote energie e fintanto che ciò non fosse accaduto, non gli restava che raccogliersi rassegnato dentro quel corpo, infinitamente pesante,
molto più pesante della Montagna, che pure aveva vinto..."
