The shadow of the Moon can be seen darkening part of Earth. This shadow moved across the Earth at nearly 2000 Km-per-hour.
Only observers near the center of the dark circle can see a Total Solar Eclipse - others see a Partial Eclipse where only part of the Sun appears blocked by the Moon.
This spectacular picture of the 1999 August 11 Solar Eclipse was one of the last ever taken from the Mir Space Station. The two bright spots that appear on the upper left are thought to be Jupiter and Saturn. Mir was deorbited in a controlled re-entry in 2001".MareKromium

Titan-PIA11838.jpgRainy Day at Hotei Arcus65 visiteA short but fierce "gullywasher" rainstorm of Methane falls on the mountains surrounding the intriguing flows of Titan's Hotei Arcus in this artist's concept, based upon radar mapping data from the Cassini Spacecraft in orbit around Saturn.
Radar data show that the arc of Hotei is the boundary between rugged mountains to the South and East and a broad valley. Emerging from the mountains are several radar-bright channels that are likely now dry riverbeds that were carved by flowing Methane due to rainfall. Within the valley, the channels end near lobate (blobby) flows some 100 to 200 meters (300 to 600 feet) thick, which some scientists think could be slushy ice lava from cryovolcanoes.
These flows are portrayed here as the rough and elevated lighter tan areas in the foreground. It is possible that such phenomena could release Methane from beneath the surface, helping to explain how Titan's Atmosphere sustains its supply of Methane.
The area depicted is located at approximately 28° South Latitude and 78° West Longitude.MareKromium

Unusual_Phenomenon.jpgSpace Firework (by Dr M. Faccin)137 visiteSolo lo straordinario "Occhio" del Dr Faccin poteva evidenziare questo intrigantissimo dettaglio che caratterizza una coppia di frames in arrivo dallo Spazio di Saturno.
Osservate Voi stessi il frame originale e l'ingrandimento del particolare: un inspiegato (e forse del tutto inspiegabile) fuoco d'artificio spaziale è stato immortalato dagli occhi elettronici della Sonda CASSINI-HUYGENS mentre si stava verificando.
Di che cosa si tratta? Impossibile dirlo.
Raggio Cosmico? Se lo è, si tratta di un Raggio Cosmico completamente sui generis (ed a meno che non voglia ipotizzare un "cluster" di Raggi Cosmici in arrivo - da una sorgente unitaria - verso la Sonda Terrestre - ma si tratta di un'ipotesi che, a dispetto della sua apparente credibilità e fondatezza, a noi pare veramente "stiracchiata"...anche se non si può mai sapere).
UFO sigariforme "multiplo" ed in avvicinamento "frontale" a CASSINI-HUYGENS? Sarebbe un evento ufologico assolutamente nuovo (e comunque il primo in assoluto che sia stato mai osservato nello Spazio Profondo).
Noi possiamo dirVi solamente che si tratta di un Fenomeno Inusuale, sul quale nè la NASA, nè l'ESA, nè alcuno Scienziato o Ricercatore al Mondo ha mai speso una virgola.
Perchè?
Forse perchè nessuno si è accorto di quello che era successo...
