30 Doradus.jpg30-Doradus and the Tarantula Nebula110 visiteFirst cataloged as a star, 30 Doradus is actually an immense Star Forming Region in nearby galaxy "The Large Magellanic Cloud". The Region's spidery appearance is responsible for its popular name, the Tarantula Nebula, except that this tarantula is about 1000 LY across, and 180.000 LY away in the Southern Constellation "Dorado". If the Tarantual Nebula were at the distance of the Orion Nebula (1500 LY), the nearest stellar nursery to Earth, it would appear to cover about 30° on the sky or 60 full moons. The spindly arms of the Tarantula Nebula surround NGC 2070, a cluster that contains some of the intrinsically brightest, most massive stars known. Intriguing details of the nebula's core can be seen in this remarkable skyscape, a composite of 31 hours of exposure time.
This cosmic Tarantula also lies near the site of the closest recent supernova (1987a).

Lasciando affrontare ad un'altra trattazione, infatti, la disputa sulla reale natura di questo tipo di sanzione, occorre stigmatizzare l'eccessivo (ed in alcuni casi intollerabile) lasso di tempo che intercorre fra l'accertamento del reato e l'esecuzione della condanna.
Questo non vuol dire, ovviamente, che la certezza del Diritto deve essere sacrificata sull'altare della rapidità, certamente no!
Ma quando parliamo di "Pena di Morte" allora le ipotesi percorribili, a mio parere, sono soltanto due: o essa viene (come alcuni chiedono) eliminata del tutto oppure, se essa viene mantenuta in vigore, allora diventa indispensabile (nell'interesse primario delle Parti coinvolte, del Diritto e del Senso Comune) ridurre drasticamente l'attesa fra l'accertamento del reato, l'emissione della sentenza e l'esecuzione della pena..."

Io credo che la Verità sia nel concetto di Cultura che ognuno di noi possiede e ritiene di trasmettere. Io, ad esempio, penso che la Cultura possa farsi solo usando la Parola..."

The squashed orange pumpkin shape just silhouettes the peak of a distant iceberg in this stunning view.
The Moon's apparently squashed shape is due to atmospheric bending of light or refraction - an effect which is more severe closer to the horizon. Skimming low along the stark features of the frozen landscape, the Moon's lower edge appears noticeably more distorted than the upper limb. Along with about 70 others present at Davis Station, Dr. Jim Behrens had a chance to enjoy the view while studying the ongoing detachment of a large iceberg known as "Loose Tooth".
