Rings-PIA07654.jpgCrescent Enceladus and Crescent Rings60 visiteSunlight reflects off the bright, frozen surfaces of the billions and billions of particles comprising Saturn's Rings to brighten the Planet's Southern Skies.
The particles in Saturn's Rings are each too small to be seen by Cassini in this image but, if they could, each would look like the bright reflective crescent of Enceladus seen here, with each reflecting sunlight onto the Southern Hemisphere of the Planet.
The image was taken in polarized infrared light with Cassini's wide-angle camera on Nov. 2, 2005, at a distance of approx. 1,7 MKM (1,1 MMs) from Saturn and at a phase angle of 119°. The image scale is roughly 104 Km (about 65 miles) per pixel.

53-Apollo 10 frame AS 10-4822.gifApollo 10 - AS 10-4822: a VERY controversial frame (1)193 visiteUn fotogramma Apollo 10 famosissimo (e che Vi proponiamo in versione originale non compressa negli Archivi della Reserved Area) che ci porta, letteralmente, a metà strada fra Scienza e Fantascienza.
Un considerevole numero di Anomalie, infatti, è stato individuato (da più Ricercatori) in questo frame e, fra tutte, campeggia (alla Vostra Dx) quella conosciuta come "The Castle" (il suggestivo nome di battesimo datole dal Prof. Hoagland) che Vi proponiamo ancora come detail mgnf nel prossimo quadro.
Commenti? Impossibile farne: il frame è vecchio e rovinato (che cosa è reale, in esso, e che cosa è solo photo-artifact?) e noi, purtroppo, non abbiamo disponibili immagini recenti della stessa area.

Lakshmi Planum is an elevated plateau that is bounded on all sides by mountain chains. Here, the Danu mountains have an angular fractured appearance. Chasms slice diagonally across the mountains in the lower left (southwest) corner of the image. Because of the steep slopes and the local relief of the mountains of several kilometers, these fault-bounded troughs appear to zig-zag through the mountains when, in fact, they are probably straight if viewed from above. The radar view provides a perspective that would place the viewer's eye to the right, 27° above the horizon. Thus, slopes facing to the right can be seen completely, though dark, and slopes facing away to the left appear shortened, often seen only as thin bright lines. In the center of the image is a low volcanic dome 20 Km in diameter. This type of volcanic feature frequently occurs on the low plains. This dome on the edge of Lakshmi is deformed and faulted where it has been affected by the forces that created the Danu mountains".

SOL409-2N162678242EFFA800P0705L0M1.jpgAnomalous stones (2)71 visiteAlla Vostra Sx, all'incirca fra le ore 9 e le ore 10 del frame, potete vedere la roccia di cui avevamo parlato in sede di commento ai frames del Sol 407 e che, da un diverso angolo visuale, avevamo detto che mostrava, su un suo lato, una sporgenza così netta da farla apparire una "tettoia".
In questo frame la roccia in questione si vede ancora meglio e da distanza maggiormente ravvicinata.
Forse quando abbiamo parlato di sporgenza "a tettoia" abbiamo esagerato, ma la realtà è che siamo ancora una volta davanti ad una roccia che sembra essere stata "erosa alla base".
Dall'acqua, forse, qualche decina di migliaia di anni fa (o magari anche di più)? O da qualcosa di diverso?

Forse (al pari degli svariati fotogrammi che seguono e mostrano i movimenti della "luce") questa è una delle immagini più controverse - e meno conosciute - fra quelle esistenti in materia di "Anomalie Lunari".
Anomalie Lunari: oggetti di origine sconosciuta e dalle forme anomale; ombre inspiegabili; star-like objects e chissà che altro ancora che noi, pur guardando, non siamo riusciti a vedere...
