Ma cosa sono quei due "star-like" objects che vediamo accanto al Sole? Stelle? Certamente no: in primo luogo è ancora troppo presto per vederle e poi, verso l'orizzonte, le "polveri in sospensione" costituiscono un enorme filtro che abbatte (e di molto!) la stessa luminosità del Sole. Se questo è vero, figuriamoci allora la cortina impenetrabile che queste polveri vengono a costituire per la luce di una stella lontana...
E allora quelle "luci" cosa sono? Fireflies?

The Summit appears to be a windswept plateau of scattered rocks, little sand dunes and small exposures of outcrop. The breathtaking view here is toward the North, looking down into the drifts and outcrops of the 'Tennessee Valley', a Region that Spirit was not able to visit during its climb to the top of the hill.
The approximate true-color postcard spans about 90° and consists of images obtained by the Rover's PanCam during 18 individual pointings. At each pointing, the Rover used three of its panoramic filters (600, 530 and 480 nanometers)".

NEPTUNE4.jpgNeptune from Voyager 285 visiteLe fotografie che Vi offriamo di Nettuno sono state, tranne forse un paio, tutte scattate dalla Sonda Voyager 2 che, come sapete, transitò molto vicina al Pianeta ed al suo Sistema di Lune nel 1989.
L'atmosfera di Nettuno è costituita, in prevalenza, da Idrogeno ed Elio (gas entrambi invisibili) e quindi gli Scienziati ritengono che il bel colorito azzurro del Pianeta sia determinato dalla presenza di sensibili quantitativi di Metano atmosferico (un gas che assorbe, preferenzialmente, le radiazioni...
