Ed è proprio quello che vogliono le classi dirigenti: fare dell’intellettuale un odioso grillo parlante che pretende di insegnare a vivere, magari rifiutando quei modelli di vita che vengono annunciati al mondo come nuovo vangelo, modelli fondati sul denaro (fatto non importa come, purché sia molto, moltissimo), sul lusso ostentato, sullo sfarzo e lo spreco.
Ma c’è un pericolo ancora più grave, ed è costituito dall’intellettuale che si fa servo del potere. È l’intellettuale (ma dovrei dire pseudo-intellettuale, perché ne è la versione corrotta ed aberrante) che, per vanità, per desiderio di condividere un’infinitesima parte di potere, per avidità o per debolezza, si fa araldo e difensore del potere, dell’asservimento, della prevaricazione, dell’ingiustizia...".

Inspired by H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds" and gazing out across a meadow, young Goddard imagined it would be wonderful to make a device that had the possibility of ascending to Mars. Forever more he felt his life had a purpose and in the following years his diary entries record October 19th as "Anniversary Day", the anniversary of his ascent into the cherry tree. By 1926 he had designed, built, and flown the world's first liquid fuel rocket. Mars is just visible through the trees at the lower right in this dramatic sky view that also features the Moon and Venus - all visited by liquid fuel rockets constructed on principles developed by Goddard".

Jupiter_s Rings-PIA01628.jpgThe Rings of Jupiter (2)58 visiteScientists studying data from Galileo spacecraft have found that the Ring System is made up of impact debris created when meteoroids, which are fragments of comets and asteroids, slam into Jupiter`s four smallest satellites. The top panel shows that the Main Ring (red) is formed mostly from meteoroid impact debris kicked up from the innermost moons, Metis (m) and Adrastea (a). Since both satellites orbit in paths not inclined to Jupiter's equator, the Main Ring appears as a narrow line. The middle panel shows the additional effect of dust ejected from the satellite Amalthea (A), responsible for producing 1 of the 2 moon components of the Gossamer Ring. Amalthea's orbit is inclined to Jupiter's equatorial plane and at different times the satellite's vertical position can range anywhere between the 2 extreme limits shown. Dust ejected from Amalthea (orange) produces a ring whose thickness equals Amalthea's vertical projections beyond Jupiter's equatorial plane. The lower panel shows the additional effect of dust ejected from Thebe (T), which makes up the second component (shown in green) of the gossamer ring. Again, the two positions shown represent the maximum projections of Thebe from Jupiter's equatorial plane. This component of the gossamer ring is thicker than the component due to Amaltheas dust because Thebe's orbit is more inclined than that of Amalthea.

ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-MFAGONE016.jpgThe "True Colors" of Mars (15)278 visiteI “colori ufficiali” di Marte riflettono due scenari: ignoranza (della serie: non so, ma tiro ad indovinare…), oppure deliberata manipolazione.
Se qualcuno riesce ad offrire una spiegazione migliore, ben venga. D’altro canto tutti possono commettere degli errori di valutazione,sìano essi Esperti e Professionisti o semplici “Amateurs”.
Resta il fatto che Marte sembra essere diventato una sorta di “prototipo planetario” dell’attuale tendenza di stereotipizzare tutto.
E si: il nostro mondo è diventato un mondo dove ogni cosa deve esattamente adattarsi ai modelli sociali consolidati e basati sul controllo totale delle informazioni...
E questa sarebbe “Scienza”?...Ai posteri l’ardua sentenza!

ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-MFAGONE009.jpgThe "True Colors" of Mars (9)419 visiteOra, visto che quello che gli archivi NASA ed ESA ci offrono in materia di immagini a colori lascia – diciamo così – “perplessi”, la domanda che noi ci/Vi poniamo è questa: è possibile che i tecnici NASA e/o ESA abbiano tarato “male” le telecamere della Sonda Pathfinder, oppure quelle di Spirit ed Opportunity o magari quelle di Mars Express?!? Insomma, sono state forse inviate su Marte delle sonde daltoniche?
Dobbiamo ritenere che queste persone così qualificate starebbero letteralmente "tirando a indovinare" allorché si parla dei colori di Marte, fornendoci quindi delle interpretazioni arbitrarie su quello che – a questo punto “secondo loro” – sarebbe l'aspetto di Marte"?
Se così fosse la soluzione più razionale (e limitativa di errori e malintesi) sarebbe quella di rilasciare soltanto immagini in bianco e nero. E, guarda caso, gli archivi NASA, JPL, MSSS sono stracolmi di frames in bianco e nero...

Per carità, non sia mai! E’ assai più probabile che l'esatta struttura dei colori di Marte sia così complessa da decifrare che persino i tecnici che lavorano alle missioni spaziali si trovano in difficoltà!
Spendiamo allora due parole sulle telecamere a colori e sui metodi per ottenere immagini il più possibile naturali. Nelle telecamere a colori generalmente si installano, al loro interno, apparecchiature che fungono da filtro passa-banda; così basandosi sul rosso, sul blu e sul giallo si riescono poi ad ottenere tutte le principali tonalità cromatiche conosciute. Il motivo è dovuto al semplice fatto che il rosso, il giallo e il blu costituiscono i "colori fondamentali".

The missing piece was no cause for concern because the Moon was only momentarily in the way. The event was not a total eclipse of the Sun for any Earth-bound sky enthusiast but rather, at best, an annular eclipse, where the Moon blocked most of the Sun. Because of the relatively large distance to the Moon during this Earth-Moon-Sun alignment, the Moon did not have a large enough angular size to block the entire Sun. Those who witnessed the solar eclipse from a narrow path through Spain and Africa, however, were lucky enough to see the coveted Ring of Fire, a dark Moon completely surrounded by the brilliant light of the distant Sun. Pictured above is a Ring of Fire captured two days ago in unusually HR above Spain. The resulting image shows details of the granular solar surface as well as many prominences around the Sun".
