Most probably, you would be seeing Sundogs, extra-images of the Sun created by falling ice-crystals in the Earth's atmosphere. As water freezes in the atmosphere, small, flat, six-sided, ice crystals might be formed. As these crystals flutter to the ground, much time is spent with their faces flat, parallel to the ground. An observer may pass through the same plane as many of the falling ice crystals near sunrise or sunset. During this alignment, each crystal can act like a miniature lens, refracting sunlight into our view and creating parhelia, the technical term for sundogs. Sundogs were photographed here in a cloudy sky above the Very Large Array of radio telescopes. A bright Sundog is visible on the far right, and a dim one on the far left. Ice-crystals can create other strange illusions of the Sun and Moon including halos and pillars".

As you can see, the plane is cut by dark dust lanes, clouds and several dusty regions. You can clearly see the 2 Magellanic Clouds (note the prominent bar and incipient spiral structure of the Large Cloud). Near the Small Magellanic Cloud is the globular cluster 47 Tucanae. Cutting almost north-south through one side of the bulge is the dwarf Sagittarius Galaxy which, along with the Clouds, is a Milky Way's satellite Galaxy.

X-APOLLO_11_-_AS_11-43-6370_(2).jpgAS 11-43-6370 - Low Altitude Cruise (EDM)1254 visiteOnde evitare l'insorgere di spiacevoli - e comunque INUTILI e STERILI - polemiche, a questo punto noi ci limitiamo ad evidenziare il dato (assolutamente inequivocabile) per cui l'Oggetto ripreso è un Oggetto REALE a tutti gli effetti (come dimostra il fatto che esso proietta ombra sul Suolo Lunare) e non un image-artifact.
Si tratta, quindi ed a nostro parere, di un OVNI (ossìa si un Oggetto Volante Non Identificato) al 100%.
Resta inteso che se poi qualcuno riuscisse nell'opera di identificarlo, costui non dovrà fare altro che scriverci e sottoporci il Suo Lavoro, il materiale e gli elementi di prova raccolti ed adottati per risolvere il Mistero e noi saremo ben lieti di pubblicare il tutto.
Ma sinchè ciò non accadrà, noi possiamo solamente dire GRAZIE al nostro Amico e Partner "Luna Cognita" per la eccezionale segnalazione!MareKromium

(context frame in natural colors and inset in natural but highly enhanced colors; credits: Lunexit)228 visiteUn modestissimo fotomosaico in colori naturali (tranne l'inset, il quale è stato sottoposto ad over-stretching) che ci mostra il curioso "oggetto" che staziona nel Cielo di Marte.
Si, una volta processato il frame al massimo delle nostre possibilità, il dettaglio che attrasse la nostra attenzione qualche anno fa non sembra più essere tanto una "scia", quanto un vero e proprio oggetto (probabilmente di grandi dimensioni, ma questa è una considerazione assolutamente intuitiva) che stazionava - o che si muoveva molto lentamente - nel Cielo di Marte, ai limiti della capacità visiva della camera del Rover.
Una sola "certezza" - si fa per dire... -: il dettaglio NON E', NON RAPPRESENTA un image-artifact. MareKromium

L'occhio è quello dell'Elaboratore HAL-9000: una creazione (forse la più fantastica e realistica) del Grande Scrittore Inglese, Sir Arthur C. Clarke, deceduto oggi (19 Marzo 2008).
Questa immagine vuole essere un Tributo al Suo Genio, alla Sua Opera, a nostro parere, più Bella ("2001: A Space Odyssey") ed alla Sua Memoria.
