This is one of the few 500-mm images that Dave took without the camera being perfectly steady. By using "FocusMagic" to deblur the image it seems that a 4-pixel deblurring (next frame) along a line 50° counterclockwise from vertical worked best.

APOLLO 15 AS 15-91-12403_ZQ-invert 2.jpgAS 15-91-12403 - The Lunar "Hangars" (3) - invert-detail mgnf184 visite"...In quanto al fotogramma AS 12403, scattato ufficialmente con il teleobiettivo da 250 mm., l'ho già esaminato tempo fa, ma è isolato e sfocato, per cui poco aggiunge alla conoscenza dell'area in questione, situata tra il cratere Wallace ed il "Monte" Wolff. O meglio, forse sarebbe divertente controllare più attentamente l'orografia di Wolff (come, per altro, quella altrettanto singolare del "Vitruvius Mons", di Apollo 17)…
Il frame è stato scattato in una sequenza "anomala" e quasi sicuramente fasulla, in quanto la striscia partiva con l'AS 12395 e segg., imperniati su Tsiolkovsky e poi scivolava su altri soggetti finendo con il frame incriminato.
E visto che il soggetto del 12403 era molto interessante ed il 12404 inquadrava già la Terra, bisognerebbe concludere che gli Astronauti sono dei poveri dementi e francamente non credo proprio che lo siano...
Dal listing ufficiale escono altri particolari, tra cui il fatto che, contraddicendo l'altra versione ufficiale, si assegna al 12403 l'obbiettivo da 80mm. anziché da 250. In conclusione, come "compito a casa", assegnerei quello di individuare le formazioni in oggetto nei frames orbitali Apollo, Lunar Orbiter e Clementine (Lat. 15° N e Long. 352° E). Qualcosa di interessante uscirà di sicuro...".
