"One possibility is that the light is the glint from a rock surface reflecting the Sun", NASA imaging scientist Justin Maki said to the Houston Chronicle. And then: "When these images were taken each day, the Sun was in the same direction as the bright spot, (such as) W/N-W from the Rover and relatively (maeaning???) low in the Sky".
In a statement made to Space.com, Maki added another possibility, i.e. that the light could be caused by the way Sunlight managed to hit Curiositys camera.
"The Rover Science Team is also looking at the possibility that the bright spot could be Sunlight reaching the camera's CCD [Charge-Coupled Device] directly through a "vent hole" in the camera housing, which has happened previously on other cameras on Curiosity and other Mars Rovers when the geometry of the incoming Sunlight - relative to the camera - is precisely aligned. he said.
Della serie: "Troviamo un'obiezione (cio stupidata) assurda e complicatissima che nessuno (o quasi) capir mai. Cos tutto va a posto". BRAVI! Obbiettivo raggiunto. Ma NON per "tutti"...
Ma c' di pi.
"The photo in question was taken on April 3 by Curiositys right-hand Navigation Camera, and shows what looks an awful lot like a bright, shining light off in the distance. NASA itself has not commented on the nature of the light, but UFO watchers have wasted no time suggesting its not natural and, therefore, a sign of alien life.
"This could indicate there there is intelligent life below the ground and uses light as we do," Scott Waring wrote on his UFO Sightings Daily website. "This is not a glare from the Sun, nor is it an artifact of the photo process. Look closely at the bottom of the light. It has a very flat surface giving us 100% indication it is from the surface.
Sure NASA could go and investigate it, but hey, they are not on Mars to discover life, but there to stall its discovery, he concluded.
Others arent quite convinced. The editor of All About Space magazine, Ben Biggs, told The Daily Mail that people shouldnt be leaping to such dramatic conclusions so quickly. While the light is as yet unexplained, it's quite a leap to assume that it has an intelligent source, he said. The public can afford to speculate wildly but NASA is an organization internationally renowned for credible science. It needs to exhaust every other likely explanation before it can begin to explore less realistic phenomena.
Although NASA has yet to release a statement, Doug Ellison of the agencys Jet Propulsion Laboratory dismissed the idea that the light was proof of intelligent life. On Twitter, he told NBC News the beacon is a cosmic ray hit, noting that there is no light on the image taken by the left-hand navigation camera, which was also captured at the exact same moment.

Ma, dico io, su cosa? Su un effetto di sovra-saturazione che conoscono anche i dilettanti? Ma non era "pi facile" dire la cosa pi ovvia ed anche pi probabile? (magari anche un "out-gassing", tipo quelli che occorrono sulla Luna e danno vita ai TLP?) ... No. Tutto, tranne l'ovvio e l'altamente probabile. Raggi Solari incidenti su una "roccia" altamente riflettente (stupidata planetaria!); raggio (casuale) di Luce Solare che "inganna" la fotocamera del Rover (taccio per decenza...); Raggio Cosmico che "colpisce" la camera CCD del Rover (una possibilit su "n" miliardi...) e cos via.
Ed allora io "deduco" - da quanto sopra - che o non sanno fare il "loro" mestiere (ergo sono incompetenti), oppure non sanno a cosa attaccarsi per giustificare e spiegare un evento altrimenti difficilmente (esclusa la sovra-saturazione) spiegabile. Povera NASA! E, soprattutto: poveri noi!
p.s.: io (a scanso di equivoci) NON dico n ho mai detto (rectius: scritto) che trattasi di "Segnale di Vita Intelligente"! Io ho solo scritto che le "spiegazioni" date dai "Fenomeni" della NASA sono improbabili (rectius: stupide). Tutto qui. Ne avete di "migliori"? In a photo snapped by NASA's Curiosity Rover, which has been traversing Mars' Surface since 2012, the robotic explorer caught an anomaly mingled among the planet's rolling landscape. Floating just above a dune on the right side (Dx) of the black-and-white image, Curiosity spotted a hard-to-miss white light.
Images taken directly before and after the anomaly which are time-stamped about a minute apart show up show no signs of any lights.
Though NASA hasn't yet addressed what the light is, it has acknowledged similar phenomena in the past, when the Curiosity rover happened upon an equally mysterious illumination on Mars' surface in 2014.
In a statement to DailyMail.com, a NASA spokesperson offered up a simple, if unsatisfying suggestion. 'One possibility is that the light is the glint from a rock surface reflecting the sun,' a spokesperson said in a previous report.
'When these images were taken each day, the sun was in the same direction as the bright spot, west-northwest from the rover, and relatively low in the sky.
Alternatively, the NASA spokesperson said the light may have resulted from sunlight reflecting off of the rover's sensors. Similar reflections from the Sun have cropped up in photos in the past when the sun is aligned at various positions in the sky.
'The Rover Science Team is also looking at the possibility that the bright spots could be caused by Cosmic Rays striking the camera's detector.'
When it comes to the Curiosity Rover, NASA has keyed in on other shiny phenomenon in the past, including what were believed to be fragments of a meteorite glinting in the Sun.

In altre parole: trattasi di oggetto reale ed altamente riflettente (l'effetto da over-saturation assolutamente inconfondibile). Di che si tratta? Non ne abbiamo idea. Comunque, anche se svariate immagini (e ci riferiamo alle tre che precedono) sono state messe "tutte nello stesso mucchio", a noi i "Fenomeni" sembrano diversi. Se volete commentare... Ma usate una cautela: come (quasi) sempre, manca il Seriale (che un elemento decisivo per l'Analista del frame) e, ovviamente, il Sol di riferimento. L'evento, comunque, "sembra" vecchio di ormai due anni (Fonte "DailyMail.com").
p.s.: ma sar la stessa "flare" dei primi tre frames che ora "levita"?!? A noi sembra proprio di no e la NASA ha detto che di immagini del "Fenomeno Luminoso" del Sol 389 ne esiste solo una (anche se, sempre la NASA dixit, esistono tantissime altre immagini di Fenomeni Luminosi similari a quello da cui siamo partiti. Non sappiamo nemmeno se sia correlabile alle quattro che precedono. Pu essere qualcosa di "reale", come pu essere una (ennesima) "bufala".
A volte i "Ricercatori" di Anomalie sembrano fare di proposito queste "occultazioni" (stupidissime) di dati che sarebbero del tutto fondamentali per supportare (o smontare) un'ipotesi. Non so se lo fanno perch sono in malafede o perch sono solo degli incapaci. E quale che sia l'opzione scelta, nessuna gli fa onore...MareKromium

Per alcuni certamente un UFO (o UAP, come sapete), per altri, invece, si tratta della Navicella Endeavour (di Space-X) in rientro dalla ISS. Ma:"Qualsiasi passaggio di Endeavour sulla Svizzera prima dell'atterraggio quella notte sarebbe stato completamente all'ombra della Terra, cio non sarebbe stato illuminato dal Sole e quindi non sarebbe stato visibile", ha detto Marco Langbroek, un Ricercatore dell'Universit di Leiden, in Olanda, che si occupato di localizzare l'oggetto. "Il rientro stesso era sul Messico e sul Golfo del Messico, e non sarebbe stato visibile dalla Svizzera. Il rientro in orbita invece era sull'Oceano Indiano, anche quello troppo lontano".
E quindi se non si trattato della Navicella di Space-X, cos'era questo oggetto?
Sempre Langbroek ha condiviso la sua idea dell'avvistamento: "Sono abbastanza certo che l'"UFO a ciambella" sulle fotografie svizzere sia un'immagine sfuocata di una stella luminosa". Al momento senza riferimenti e senza altre fonti molto difficile dire cos'era e forse non lo sapremo mai con certezza.
Nota: che non si tratti di un OVNI - nel senso di "Nave Spaziale Aliena" - sono d'accordo. La foto NON mi convince. Buona la prima risposta del Dr Langgbroek: logica, lineare ed inconfutabile. Ma la dichiarazione, sempre del Dr Langbroek, per cui si tratta di "...un'immagine sfuocata di una stella luminosa..." DIMOSTRA che il succitato ed Illustrissimo - per definizione - Ricercatore Olandese, le stelle (pi o meno luminose e fuori fuoco), attraverso un telescopio (quindi "a fuoco diretto" - "live") o fotografate (quindi in visione "cartacea" od "elettronica" - ma in ogni caso "ex post"), non le ha MAI davvero viste.
O meglio: le avr anche viste, ma NON le ha certo "guardate"! Triste. Molto triste. Ma normale dire fesserie quando si parla, per giunta "Ex Cathedra", di cose che NON si sanno... - Dr Paolo C. FiengaMareKromium
