Channels-Unnamed_Channel_near_Cydonia_Region-PIA07272-00.jpgArabia Terra, near Cydonia Region: the "Sphynx" River (Original NASA/MGS/MSSS b/w Frame)133 visiteE' davvero gratificante (e difficile) commentare immagini di simile impatto e bellezza: stiamo osservando il letto, ormai prosciugato (ma con degli abbondanti depositi di "qualcosa" che rimasto adagiato e ben visibile sul fondo - forse fango?), di un antico fiume Marziano. Siamo nella pianura conosciuta come Arabia Terra, in prossimit della famosissima Cydonia Mensae.
Dato che questo fiume (a quanto ne sappiamo) passa attraverso la Regione di Cydonia, abbiamo deciso di chiamarlo, in omaggio ai "monumenti" che molti pensano si trovino in quella misteriosa zona di Marte, "Sphynx River": il Fiume della Sfinge.
Con buona pace, ovviamente, degli Amici della NASA...

Fienga - Lunexit Team)250 visiteSiamo all'interno di un grande cratere da impatto nella parte occidentale della Regione di Utopia. Sul bordo interno del cratere, che vedete a centro immagine, ci sono dei cracks (--->fratture) piuttosto evidenti. Nei due detail mgnf che seguiranno, potrete vedere come da uno di questi cracks sembra che stia uscendo un denso fumo nero.
Prima di sposare l'ipotesi del fumo che fuoriesce dalla frattura o prima di rigettarla seccamente, ricordate che siamo a circa 380 Km di distanza dal fenomeno - qualunque esso sia - e che Marte, pi passa il tempo e pi cerchiamo di indagarlo e studiarlo, pi ci appare indecifrabile... MareKromium

Original caption:"This MGS-MOC image shows a second view of varied Springtime defrosting patterns formed in a dune field and surrounding polygon-patterned ground in the South Polar Region of Mars. (...) The feature sporting an outline of dark spots and an interior of smaller, closely-spaced dark spots and dark-outlined polygons is a patch of windblown or wind-eroded sand that was covered by carbon dioxide frost during the previous Autumn and Winter. The fainter, larger polygon pattern on either side of the patch of defrosting sand is formed in the substrate upon which the sand patch is sitting. Polygonal forms such as these might indicate the presence of ice below the surface".
