WW31.jpg1998-WW3183 visiteThis is an artist's view of a Kuiper Belt binary object, called 1998 WW31. These icy bodies orbit each other at the fringe of our Solar System.
The illustration depicts one member of the duo in the foreground; its companion - the dark, round object - is in the background. The objects are about the same size. Both are illuminated from behind by the Sun [the white dot at upper left]. Like other Kuiper Belt objects, this duo orbits the Sun, completing a circuit every 301 years while Pluto orbits the Sun every 248 years.

OPP-SOL631-1N184208868EFF63__P0705R0M1.jpgAfter the Dust-Storm (1) - Sol 63183 visiteDopo alcuni Soles di silenzio, ufficialmente causati dalla tempesta di polvere che ha interessato Marte nel periodo, per noi Terrestri, andante tra la fine di Ottobre ed i primi giorni di Novembre 2005, dati ed immagini hanno ripreso ad occupare le pagine web dedicate alla MER Opportunity (notare che la menzionata tempesta è stata inquadrata anche dall'HST ed a tal riguardo Vi proponiamo il frame relativo nella Sez. "Mars in Colors" - anche se il particolare più affascinante e misterioso di quel frame è stato, almeno per ora, ignorato dalle Fonti Ufficiali).
Che dire, ora? Molti si aspettavano di vedere foto scure, a causa della polvere che avrebbe dovuto ricoprire il Rover e le lenti delle sue camere; altri ancora - noi compresi - dubitavano persino che il Rover avrebbe ripreso a trasmettere, proprio a causa della polvere che - logicamente - si sarebbe dovuta andare a depositare sui pannelli solari, di fatto togliendo loro la possibilità di raccogliere luce sufficiente...

OPP-SOL707-1N190954573EFF64KSP1740R0M1.jpgFreedom of Information or Freedom of Cancellation?!? - Sol 70783 visiteCerchiature Rosse: piallature digitali ed abbassamento della risoluzione e definizione delle immagini sino a nuovi limiti "storici"; manipolazioni così evidenti e spaventose da far perdere la pazienza anche ai Ricercatori più prudenti e misurati.
Se alla NASA ritengono che "non siamo pronti" per vedere quello che c'è su Marte (o sulla Luna, o altrove), forse sarebbe meglio che dichiarassero la Missione chiusa o top-secret.
Sarebbe un comportamento odioso, certo, ma altrettanto certamente si tratterebbe di un comportamento più coerente ed onesto verso coloro che spendono migliaia di ore a studiare, cercando di capire che cosa stiamo guardando e che cosa - forse - abbiamo trovato.
Per rispettare (almeno un pò) l'Opinione Pubblica ed i Liberi Ricercatori basterebbe non pubblicare queste brutture, le quali non solo profumano di cover-up, ma ci fanno anche sentire "presi in giro".

Cerchiatura Rossa: potremmo anche sbagliarci, ma a noi questo sembra un dettaglio "già visto" in un frame piuttosto vecchio.
