NGC-1316-00.jpgNGC 1316 and the giant "radio lobes" of Fornax A87 visiteCaption NASA originale:"Together, the 'radio lobes' span over 1 MLY, but what caused them? In the center is a large but peculiar elliptical galaxy dubbed NGC 1316. Detailed inspection of the NGC 1316 system indicates that it began absorbing a small neighboring galaxy about 100 MY ago. Gas from the galactic collision has fallen inward toward the massive central black hole, with friction heating the gas up to 10 million degrees. For reasons not yet understood, two oppositely pointed fast moving jets of particles then developed, eventually smashing into the ambient material on either side of the giant elliptical galaxy. The result is a huge reservoir of hot gas that emits radio waves, observed as the orange (false-color) radio lobes in the above image. The radio image is superposed on an optical survey image of the same part of the sky. Strange patterns in the radio lobes likely indicate slight changes in the directions of the jets".

La sensazione, a prima vista, è che si tratti di una pietra la quale difficilmente può avere origini naturali, ma le sensazioni, spesso, ingannano.
In realtà , elaborando l'immagine (pulizia dei difetti + aumento del contrasto + ingrandimento) qualche leggera asperità , unita a dei modesti cracks superficiali, si riesce anche a vedere.
Non siamo davanti a quanto residua di un antico colonnato, dunque, ma la sensazione che le Rocce di Marte stìano cercando di raccontarci una storia - forse troppo incredibile per essere accettata razionalmente - si fa più forte di Sol in Sol...

SOL539-2P174219455EFFACB9P2296L5M1.jpg"Airplane" or "Cross-like" drawing on a stone (1) - Sol 53987 visiteUn dettaglio davvero molto suggestivo e decisamente intrigante è stato raccolto dall'eccellente occhio dell'Amico Massimo GRANZO: siamo durante il Sol 539 e, mentre dalla Terra stanno cercando di decidere che strada seguire per raggiungere il Summit di Husband Hill, la Left PanCam del Rover coglie, alle 14:11:48 MLT, uno dei soliti boulder che costellano l'intero paesaggio Marziano. Ma questo boulder, come ha notato il Sig. Granzo, possiede una caratteristica davvero peculiare che lo rende, nel suo genere, unico: si tratta del curioso "disegno", di colore chiaro, che spicca sulla sua sommità . Una sorta di aereo, come lo disegnerebbe un bambino, o una specie di croce.
Come ben sapete, in casi come questi, ognuno può decidere di vedere quello che vuole ma, ad un'analisi più dettagliata del frame, sono apparsi altri particolari interessanti. Eccoli:
1. lo "sbuffo" bianco, alla base del boulder - e che abbiamo evidenziato con la cerchiatura rossa - costituisce un rilievo tecnicamente impossibile...

Cerchiatura color blu: un altro caso di "roccia impossibile"?
Nota: le stranezze di questo frame che abbiamo cerchiato sono solo le maggiori, ma Vi basta guardare con attenzione e spirito critico per 3 minuti e troverete tante altre cose - diciamo così - "curiose"...

L'angolo di ripresa non è cambiato e, anche se lo fosse, si tratterebbe comunque di un cambiamento minimo che non varrebbe a giustificare la "mutazione" della roccia, non credete?
"Rocce Mutanti" o "NASA imbrogliona e pasticciona"? Decidetelo Voi...

The horizontal stripes near the bottom of the image are Saturn's Rings. The spacecraft was nearly in the plane of the Rings when the images were taken, thinning them by perspective and masking their awesome scale. The thin, curving shadows of the C-Ring and part of the B-Ring adorn the Northern Latitudes visible here, a reminder of the Rings' grandeur.
It is notable that Dione, like most of the other icy Saturnian satellites, looks no different in natural color than in monochrome images. Images taken on Oct. 11, 2005, with blue, green and infrared (centered at 752 nnmts) spectral filters were used to create this color view, which approximates the scene as it would appear to the human eye. The images were obtained with the Cassini spacecraft wide-angle camera at a distance of approx. 39.000 Km from Dione and at a phase angle of 22°.
The image scale is about 2 Km/pixel".
