Saturn-PIA08357.jpgCrescent Saturn56 visiteCaption NASA:"Cassini coasts beneath giant Saturn, staring upward at its gleaming crescent and icy rings.
A great bull's-eye pattern is centered on the South Pole, where a vast, hurricane-like storm spins.
This view looks toward the lit side of the Rings from about 26° below the Ring-Plane. The view was acquired about 2 hours prior to "The Lore of Saturn".
Images taken using red, green and blue spectral filters were combined to create this natural-color view.
The images were obtained with the Cassini spacecraft wide-angle camera on Jan. 30, 2007, from a distance of approx. 1,1 MKM (about 700.000 miles) from Saturn.
Image scale is roughly 61 Km (about 38 miles) per pixel".MareKromium

as12-51-7466.jpgAS 12-51-7466 - Flying over Theophilus Crater (1)56 visiteNotes: Theophilus is a relatively young crater similar in size but slightly older than Copernicus. It lies on the eastern edge of the Kant Plateau, an elevated area in the Central Highlands along the North-Western margin of Mare Nectaris.
Like Copernicus and Aristarchus, Theophilus has ruggedly terraced walls and a complex central peak protruding through a level floor.
Smooth-surfaced material is present in "pools" at various levels on the terraces, on parts of the crater floor, and on the ejecta that blanket the North side of the Crater. As one alternative, the pools may have been emplaced as fluid lava.

Saturn-PIA08890.jpgClouds & Clouds56 visiteCaption NASA:"Bright equatorial clouds give way to darker southern bands in this infrared Cassini spacecraft view taken with a filter sensitive to methane absorption in Saturn's Atmosphere.
Delicate shadows cast onto the Planet by its Inner Rings are visible at upper right.
A portion of the same Inner Rings are seen at lower right.
The image was taken with the Cassini spacecraft wide-angle camera using a combination of spectral filters sensitive to wavelengths of polarized infrared light.
The view was acquired on Jan. 14, 2007 at a distance of approx. 976.000 Km (about 606.000 miles) from Saturn.
Image scale is roughly 55 Km (about 34 miles) per pixel".

SOL039-PIA05556.gifMartian Eclipse: Deimos (GIF Movie) - Sol 3956 visiteCaption NASA:"This animation shows the passing, or transit, of the Martian Moon Deimos over the Sun. This event is similar solar eclipse seen on Earth in which our Moon crosses in front of the Sun. The animation is made up of images taken by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on sol 39 of its mission. Deimos passed slightly closer to the center of the Sun than expected, and arrived about 30 seconds early. This observation will help refine our knowledge of the orbit and position of Deimos".
