OPP-SOL825-Alamogordo_Creek-B849R1-1.jpgAlamogordo Creek - false colors (1) - Sol 82557 visiteCaption NASA originale:"On its 825th Martian day (May 20, 2006), NASA's MER Opportunity stopped for the weekend to place its instrument arm onto the soil target pictured here, dubbed Alamogordo Creek.
Two views from the PanCam, acquired at about noon Local Solar Time, are at the frames 1 and 2.
Frame 3 is a close-up view from the Microscopic Imager (MI).
This frame is a false-color view that emphasizes differences among materials in rocks and soil. It combines images taken through the PanCam's 753-, 535- and 432-nanometer filters".

NGC-4038_and_NGC-4039-3.jpgNGC 4038 and 4039: The "Antennae" Colliding Galaxies57 visite"...Ambition is the last resort of failure..."
(Oscar Wilde)
Caption NASA originale:"Some 60 million LY away in the southerly constellation Corvus, two large galaxies have collided. But stars in the two galaxies - NGC 4038 and NGC 4039 - don't collide in the course of the ponderous, billion year or so long event. Instead, their large clouds of molecular gas and dust do, triggering furious episodes of star formation.
Spanning about 500.000 LY, this stunning view reveals new star clusters and matter flung far from the scene of the accident by gravitational tidal forces. Of course, the visual appearance of the far-flung arcing structures gives the galaxy pair their popular name - "The Antennae". Recorded in this deep image of the region at the tip of the upper arc is a tidal dwarf galaxy NGC 4038S, formed in the cosmic debris".

SOL603-B-P2374_R1-A603R1.jpgThe "Sand-Strewn" Summit of Husband Hill (2) - Sol 60357 visiteOriginal caption:"The largest light-colored rock in the foreground is nicknamed Whittaker while the cliff beyond it and slightly to the left is Tenzing. The highest rock on the ridge ahead has been dubbed Hillary. Science team members selected the nicknames in honor of the earliest climbers to scale Mount Everest on Earth.
This view covers approximately 50° of the compass from left to right. It is a mosaic assembled from frames Spirit took with the PanCam on Sol 603 (Sept. 13, 2005). It was taken through a blue (430-nanometer) filter and is presented as a cylindrical projection".

Rhea-N00063467.jpgVoyagers...
Caption originale:"N00063467.jpg was taken on July 04, 2006 and received on Earth July 04, 2006. The camera was pointing toward Rhea that, at the time, was approximately 1.358.319 Km away. The image was taken using the CL1 and CL2 filters".
