(4) - Sol 55058 visiteEd ora una piccola "nota" esplicativa che vuole rispondere a qualche Amico Lettore il quale ci ha chiesto "...perchè Lunar Explorer ha questa tendenza a fare ricorso a teorie esotiche' per tentare di spiegare così tante fenomenologie...". La domanda è pertinente e la risposta piuttosto semplice: lo Staff Scientifico di Lunar Explorer - per tanti ordini di motivi che non serve indagare - ha "scarsa fiducia" nella capacità esplicativa di svariate fenomenologie mostrata da quella che noi chiamiamo "Scienza Positiva" (o anche "attuale" o "consolidata" etc.). La "Scienza Positiva", ormai da quasi mezzo secolo, è dominata da posizioni statiche ed il costante progresso scientifico, anzichè sbloccare questo status, ha finito con il consolidarlo. Parlando di Astronomia ed Astrofisica, in particolare, sebbene le scoperte sulle "fenomenologie" dell'Universo (e sulle relative anomalìe) sìano all'ordine della settimana, l'atteggiamento delle Maggiori Istituzioni che dominano e monopolizzano il panorama...

(5) - Sol 55058 visite...rimane SEMPRE quello di una statua di marmo che "guarda" l'evolversi di un evento: nessuna reazione, passività totale. In altre parole: "ormai i meccanismi e le logiche dell'Universo ci sono chiari: tutto quello che si vede può essere spiegato con quello che già si sa: è solo questione di tempo". A nostro - immodesto: lo sappiamo e perdonateci... - avviso, questo atteggiamento esprime il pensiero più arrogante e deleterio che possa esistere, specie in un campo come quello che noi, con tutti i nostri limiti, cerchiamo ogni giorno di affrontare.
Coloro che, in qualsiasi maniera, tentano anche solo di far "intravedere" qualche Nuova Visione e Teoria Esplicativa (che può andare dall'Universo Pluri-Dimensionale all'Universo Elettrico) sono subito additati come - se va bene... - "stravaganti". Se va male, si parla subito di "individui stupidi ed incompetenti": perchè? La Scienza - secondo quanto ci è stato insegnato - sfida costantemente sè stessa ed è attraverso questo challange costante che, nel tempo,...

Potremmo scrivere libri su questo argomento e/o parlarne per ore, ma preferiamo soffermarci solo su un concetto semplicissimo: la Scienza è un Mondo aperto a tutti ed ognuno di noi, a condizione di non pretendere di essere il Titolare Esclusivo della Verità, può dire e/o dare qualcosa. Anche solo un'Idea, un'Intuizione o una Direzione: il Teorema ed il Modello Esplicativo, verranno.
Noi crediamo fermamente in questo approccio, così come crediamo che la Scienza Positiva, da un certo punto di vista, si sia fermata.
Lo scopo della nostra "propensione" alle Teorie Esotiche (un modo poco carino per definire le Teorie Nuove) è solo quello di (tentare) di ridare un minimo di energia ad un motore che sembra essersi bloccato. Sappiamo bene che la nostra posizione è provocatoria e, in molti casi, difficile, ma non importa: non c'è solo una strada che porta alla Verità, non credete?!?
E questo vale per Marte e per tutto il resto del Cosmo.

Titan-PIA07565.jpgTitan's Terminator...from about 1,3 MKM58 visiteTitan's equatorial latitudes are distinctly different in character from its South Polar Region, as this image shows. The dark terrain, presumably lowland, seen here does not extend much farther south than about 30° South. The successful Huygens probe landed in such a Region. The Huygens probe is rotating into the light here, seeing the dawn of a new day. The bright region toward the right side of Titan's disk is Xanadu. This area is thought to consist of upland terrain that is relatively uncontaminated by the dark material that fills the lowland regions.
Near the South Pole, and just eastward of the terminator, is the dark feature identified by imaging scientists as the best candidate (so far) for a past or present hydrocarbon lake on Titan (see PIA06241). Farther east of the lake-like feature, bright clouds arc around the Pole. These clouds occupy a latitude range that is consistent with previously-seen convective cloud activity on Titan. The phase angle is 60° while the image scale is 7 Km per pixel.

Hyperion-N00038106.jpgHyperion, from about 868.000 Km58 visiteUn'immagine molto bella e che ci spinge a considerare molto seriamente l'ipotesi che la Luna conosciuta come "Hyperion" non sia altro che una cometa mancata, ovvero un astro composto prevalentemente da ghiaccio d'acqua, il cui cammino verso il Sole venne interrotto (repentinamente e per sempre) dall'abbraccio gravitazionale di Saturno. A proposito: se osservate Hyperion con una certa attenzione, dovreste notare una certa (e forte) somiglianza con un altro corpo celeste "vagante", recentemente salito agli onori delle Cronache Spaziali.

Asteroids-Sylvia_compo680.jpg87 Sylvia and the Founders of Rome58 visiteDa "NASA - Picture of the Day" del 17 Agosto 2005:"Discovered in 1866, Main Belt Asteroid 87 Sylvia lies 3.5 AU from the Sun, between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Also shown in recent years to be one in a growing list of double asteroids, new observations during August and October 2004 made at the Paranal Observatory convincingly demonstrate that 87 Sylvia in fact has two moonlets - the first known triple asteroid system. At the center of this composite of the image data, potato-shaped 87 Sylvia itself is about 380 Km wide. The data show inner moon, Remus, orbiting Sylvia at a distance of about 710 Km once every 33 hours, while outer moon Romulus orbits at 1360 Km in 87,6 hours. Tiny Remus and Romulus are 7 and 18 Km across respectively. Because 87 Sylvia was named after Rhea Silvia, the mythical mother of the Founders of Rome, the discoverers proposed Romulus and Remus as fitting names for the two moonlets (...)".

This image also clearly shows how the diffuse component of the D-Ring tapers off as it approaches the Planet.
The view is looking down on the dark side of the Rings, with the Planet's lower half being illuminated by reflected light from the Rings. The upper half of the Planet is also dark. The image was taken at a high phase angle - such as the Sun-Saturn-spacecraft angle - such as 177°. Viewing the Rings at high phase angle makes the finest dusty particles visible.
The inner edge of the C-Ring enters the scene at the lower left and Saturn's shadow cuts off the view of the Rings. Several background stars can also be seen here.
The image was taken in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft wide-angle camera on July 15, 2005, at a distance of approx. 293.000 Km from Saturn".

Saturn-PIA07569.jpgThe Kingdom of Beauty58 visiteAbbiamo da tempo notato che le immagini di Saturno (e/o di Giove) e dei loro Sistemi non sembrano interessare i Lettori. Non è solo il counter che esprime "quante volte" un frame è stato aperto che parla e ci racconta, bensì anche gli altri indici statistici che ci informano su quanti Visitatori sono entrati in ciascuna Sezione o sub-Sezione del Sito. Ebbene, quando verifichiamo questi dati per le sub-Sezioni dedicate a Giove e Saturno, la delusione è grande. Forse la colpa è nostra, ci siamo detti, perchè non riusciamo a rendere 'accattivante' il Regno dei Giganti Gassosi...O forse la colpa, se di colpa si può parlare, è dei media i quali, spesso e volentieri, parlano - anche a vanvera - di Marte e/o della Luna, ma molto raramente (2/3 volte l'anno) accennano a Saturno (e Titano). Giove, ormai, è solo un ricordo.
La verità, secondo noi, è che su Marte i media si sono sbizzarriti così tanto che viene quasi naturale interessarsi solo al Pianeta Rosso...Ma attenti: il Futuro, è ben oltre le sabbie di Cydonia!
