While watching the geocentric celestial event from Mongolia, photographer Miloslav Druckmuller recorded multiple images with two separate cameras as the Moon blocked the bright solar disk and darkened the sky.
This final composition consists of 55 frames ranging in exposure time from 1/125 to 8 seconds. It spans nearly 12°, with the relative position of the Moon and Sun corresponding to mid-eclipse. On the left is bright planet Mercury, but many stars are also visible, including the Praesepe Star Cluster (also known as M44 or the Beehive Cluster) in Cancer, above and to the right of the silhouetted Moon. Remarkably, the nearly perfect conditions and wide range in individual exposures allow the composite picture to register the lunar surface and follow the delicate solar corona out to a distance of nearly 20 times the radius of the Sun. In fact, the composite presents a range in brightness beyond what the eye could see during the eclipse".MareKromium

Più o meno come abbiamo cercato di strutturare questi tre frames del Sol 1676...MareKromium

Note that one can make out boulders and small dunes at the bottom of these fractures and layering within the walls. Just visible at the top of the image is some well-preserved impact crater ejecta.

Barca and Lunar Explorer Italia)63 visiteSolo due note: la prima, è che - grazie al Lavoro del bravissimo Dr Barca - abbiamo ancora una volta il piacere di offrirVi un fantastico frammento della Pianura di Gusev, estratto dalla ormai ampiamente quadriennale "passeggiata Marziana" di Spirit; la seconda, è nel fatto per cui la strada che separava Spirit dalla Silver Sphere era, tutto sommato (e come potete constatare Voi stessi, ora), alquanto pianeggiante ed agevole da affrontarsi (Spirit ed Opportunity hanno affrontato MOLTO di peggio, come ben sapete!).
Eppure... Eppure Spirit riprese, un bel numero di volte, la Silver Sphere, ma non vi si avvicinò mai. Ed a questo punto, possiamo dirlo con chiarezza, non vi si avvicinò mai (evidentemente) per una SCELTA DELIBERATA del Controllo Missione.
Si vede che i nostri Amici di Pasadena non avevano interesse a guardare più da vicino questo "oggetto"...O forse sapevano bene che cosa fosse e non hanno ritenuto essenziale deviare per osservarlo più da vicino...
Oppure (ipotesi che noi, da buoni "Complottisti", privilegiamo), Spirit si è effettivamente avvicinato alla Silver Sphere (perchè POTEVA e DOVEVA farlo!) e l'ha ripresa (come è stato fatto, ad esempio, per l'Heat-Shield di Opportunity e per quello di Spirit che, ve lo ricordiamo, dovrebbe giacere sul margine esterno del Cratere Bonneville).
Insomma: a nostro parere, le immagini ravvicinate della Silver Sphere DOVREBBERO (Logica e Buon Senso alla mano) esistere. Solo che esse non sono state mai diffuse al Pubblico. Per motivi (ovviamente) oscuri.
E comunque, ancora oggi, se provate a chiedere alla NASA delle delucidazioni su questo affascinante rilievo, non avrete risposte...MareKromium
