This false-color image mosaic was assembled using images acquired by the PanCam on Opportunity's 784th Sol (April 8, 2006) at about 11:45 MLT. The camera used its 753-, 535- and 432-nnmt filters. This view shows a portion of the outcrop named "Bosque", including Rover wheel tracks, fractured and finely-layered outcrop rocks and smaller, dark cobbles littered across the surface".

Cerchiatura Verde: roccia con fenditura frontale a forma di "V", inclinata(Sx) e roccia con enorme "buco" frontale (Dx).
Si tratta di stranezze, senza dubbio, che forse non vogliono dire nulla o che magari, d'altro canto, potrebbero iniziare a dirci una importante ed interessante parte del tutto. Ma la NASA, ovviamente, queste "cose" non le vede e, se le vede, non le ritiene rilevanti.

Cerchiatura Fucsia: su segnalazione dell'ottimo Dr Gianluigi Barca, abbiamo esaminato il dettaglio in questione e, come - purtroppo - spesso accade, non ci è possibile dire con certezza di che cosa si tratti. Il frame è di pessima qualità (anche questa una circostanza ricorrente...) e, anche adoperando un discreto software, l'immagine, non appena ingrandita, si sgrana e perde quel minimo di definizione necessaria per svolgere delle considerazioni. Ciò premesso, abbandoniamo la "tecnica" e ci rivolgiamo all'esperienza ed all'intuito - virtù da non sopravvalutare, certo, ma neppure da considerare come "strumenti poveri". Secondo noi, lo streak colto dalla Front HazCam di Opportunity - e lo diciamo sulla base di una discreta serie di evidenze (su tutte l'analisi dei photoartifacts tipici e ricorrenti della Left Front HazCam del Rover) NON è un photoartifact.
E dicendo questo, Vi invitiamo ora ad osservare, riflettere e dirci cosa pensate che sia quella striscia di luce che si è accesa nel Cielo di Marte.

During the last planned drive on Sol 833, the Rover became embedded in a soft dune. As designed, the drive was stopped by a slip check.
The extraction process began on Sol 836, with 5 mt (about 16 feet) of commanded motion, and 9 cm (about 3,5") of actual forward progress. The results are encouraging, and extraction will continue on Friday (such as June 2, 2006) and over the weekend if necessary. Opportunity is otherwise healthy and continues to conduct atmospheric and targeted remote sensing on the path South.

In alto, nella Cerchiatura Fucsia, un "volatile Marziano" o un "photoartifact"? Difficile dirlo, ma la sensazione - nulla di più - è che sia un vizio del frame.
In basso, nella Cerchiatura Nera, una roccia che sembra essere costituita da due pezzi quasi combacianti.
Difficile dire se i due pezzi sìano una mera illusione ottica (le riprese Front e Rear Haz-Cam distorcono sempre un pò l'immagine) oppure se si tratta di una roccia unitaria la quale, di recente e per motivi che non crediamo si possano ricondurre al transito del Rover, si è spezzata in due.

Titan-PIA08211.jpgIn the lights: Titan, Janus and the Rings...66 visiteCaption NASA:"Dazzling Titan glows with a 360° Sunset as light scatters through its very extended atmosphere. Some structure is visible in the hazes of the Northern Polar Hood.
To the left is Janus (181 Km, or 113 miles across), far off on the opposite side of the Ring-Plane. The Rings show their unlit side to Cassini, as the spacecraft viewed them from slightly above the ringplane.
A world with strikingly Earth-like physical processes, frigid Titan is Saturn's largest natural satellite, at 5.150 Km (about 3.200 miles) across. Titan's image is saturated (cosiddetto "effetto goccia di luce") at the 5 o'clock position.
The view was acquired in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft narrow-angle camera on June 2, 2006 at a distance of approx. 2,3 MKM (such as about 1,5 MMs) from Titan and at a Sun-Titan-spacecraft, or phase, angle of 163°. Cassini was 3,7 MKM (about 2,3 MMs) from Janus. Image scale is roughly 14 Km (about 9 miles) per pixel on Titan and approx. 22 Km (about 14 miles) on Janus".

OPP-SOL870-1R205423735EFF73Z1P1311L0M1.jpgSurface Features - Sol 87066 visiteCerchiatura Fucsia: un probabile cedimento di una porzione di parete del Side-Winder accanto al quale è transitato il Rover (non escludiamo che questo cedimento possa essere correlato al verificarsi della Clessidra Marziana che appare nella Cerchiatura Celeste e che si può vedere anche - e molto bene - in parte nella Cerchiatura Fucsia - circa ad ore 4 e 7 della stessa - nonchè negli immediati dintorni della grande (e bella) porzione esposta di Pavimentazione Marziana, proprio a ridosso del Rover.

AMIE obtained these images on 13 January 2006, 1' apart from each other, from a distance of about 1220 Km(top frame) and 1196 Km (bottom frame) from the surface, with a ground resolution of 110 and 108 mt per pixel, respectively.
The area shown in the top image is centred at a Latitude of 16,2º South and Longitude 40,2º West, while the bottom images is centred at a Latitude of 17,9º South and Longitude 40,2º West.
Gassendi is an impact feature located on the Near Side of the Moon, at the Northern Edge of Mare Humorum. The crater is actually much larger than the field of view visible in this image. The hills on the lower right of the mosaic are the central peak of the crater, with a height of roughly 1,2 Km. The crater almost fully visible on the top is called Gassendi A".
