Non ci è possibile esprimere opinioni sulla possibile origine di questo dettaglio e non siamo in possesso della versione originale uncompressed del frame 7011.

The graphite-lined cask contains a plutonium fuel element and was designed to protect the element in the event of a launch abort and re-entry. Once he has the cask lowered, Al will use a special tool to remove the protective dome on the cask and then to remove the fuel element for placement in the RTG. The fuel element's temperature is at about 1500° and even the dome is hot enough that Al wants to avoid touching it. The RTG is the dark object at his right. The Handtool Carrier (HTC) is at his left with the hammer sticking up out of the corner nearest the camera.
The foreground object at the lower right is ALSEP Package 1, the one that Pete off-loaded. Note that Pete has removed the SIDE from the RTG pallet. It was attached on the side which is now facing the right edge of the picture. Pete took the SIDE off the RTG package at 116:41:29. Note that the Universal Handling Tool (UHT) is sticking out of the right side of the base of the RTG pallet. Pete used the UHT to release a Boyd Bolt that was holding the SIDE on".

Notice the line of footprints that Pete Conrad made when he came over from the location of the 4 o'clock pan. This photo gives an impresssion of the way the ground was swept by the engine exhaust.

Block Crater is near the Surveyor Crater rim above and to the left of the Surveyor. Al Bean took this picture with Pete's camera, but with the magazine salvaged from his own camera. The pair of rocks between the Surveyor and Block Crater were the key to Ewan Whitaker's identification of this crater in a Lunar Orbiter photo of the area.
Da aggiungere, al commento originale NASA, una possibile Anomalia: notate, sul margine superiore del frame, quasi perpendicolarmente a Surveyor III, dei curiosi riflessi luminosi. Potrebbero essere un effetto prismatico come potrebbero anche essere l'indicazione di un fenomeno diverso. Purtroppo questa è l'immagine migliore che abbiamo...

Si noti, comunque, l'effetto particolare che si produce allorchè il Sole viene fotografato direttamente in assenza di aria e di atmosfera.
Questa immagine, al pari di altre similari, ci può essere di aiuto nell'individuazione di possibili immagini "false" od alterate che pure pretendono di ritrarre il Sole, in tutto od in parte. Un esempio di immagine "falsa" potete trovarlo sul Sito "NEXUS", dedicato alle (presunte) "Falsificazioni della NASA" (foto 1 di pagina 3 di 3 dedicata alle "Missioni Apollo" - nella specie Apollo 11, frame AS-11-40-5863 e ss sino a 5869).

Sia chiaro: Lunar Explorer Italia non intende fare demagogia e/o politica spicciola in questa sede, però alcune cose che sono - almeno a nostro parere e per le quali ci assumiamo piena paternità e reponsabilità - assolutamente sacrosante devono essere dette.
L'Umanità ha sicuramente bisogno di aiuto e soccorso e l'aiuto ed il soccorso, purtroppo, si ottengono con il denaro.

Nota: qualche "Ricercatore", guardando questa immagine, ha dedotto che il LM fosse fatto di "cartone". Non crediamo che sia il caso di trattare, in questa sede, le specifiche tecniche dal LM e, in particolare, i rivestimenti esterni i quali, effettivamente, ricordano la "carta da pacco" quando viene stropicciata ma, se siete curiosi e diffidenti, Vi rinviamo alle Technical Specs (con relative Procedures and Check-Lists) che vengono riportate, Missione per Missione, in un apposito paragrafo all'interno di ciascuno dei 7 Capitoli in cui è suddiviso l'Apollo Lunar Surface Journal.
