(2) - Sol 830129 visiteQualcosa di simile a quello che si intravede in questo frame, in effetti, era già apparsa in passato (vedi, p.e., Sol 811, frame 4 di 4, Front HazCam oppure Sol 814, frame 2 di 8, sempre Front HazCam) e, andando ancora più indietro nel tempo, scopriamo che qualche "grumo" di materiale si era già formato in alcuni punti delle ruote di Opportunity.
E allora? Nessun mistero dunque?
Forse no, ma in questo specifico frame del Sol 830, la sensazione che la ruota si sia - letteralmente - "invischiata" in qualcosa è molto netta.
Naturalmente potremmo sbagliarci, ma questo - al momento - è quello che si vede.

During the last planned drive on Sol 833, the Rover became embedded in a soft dune. As designed, the drive was stopped by a slip check.
The extraction process began on Sol 836, with 5 mt (about 16 feet) of commanded motion, and 9 cm (about 3,5") of actual forward progress. The results are encouraging, and extraction will continue on Friday (such as June 2, 2006) and over the weekend if necessary. Opportunity is otherwise healthy and continues to conduct atmospheric and targeted remote sensing on the path South.
