In origine questa immagine era stata rubricata con un seriale NASA "anomalo" il quale faceva pensare a frames Spirit e/o Opportunity "pirata".

At this location the channel is much too large to be seen within a HiRISE image, and this shows an area of level plains near the mouth.
Two geologic units are visible at this site: a relatively dark expanse in the southern part of the image (Dx) and a light, slightly higher-standing area along the northern edge. The light unit may be material that has flowed out from below the surface in a process called mud volcanism. However, many aspects of the history of the Northern Plains of Mars remain uncertain.
A few other prominent features are present. A long trough with aeolian ripples runs through the eastern part of the image. This feature likely formed by contraction of the surface layer. This must have occurred after the formation of the light material since it cuts through the light unit in the northwest part of the image.
There is also a large mound which appears to bury part of the trough, and thus is even younger. Alternatively, two troughs could both terminate at the hill.
Despite the resolution of HiRISE, the nature of this mound is still unclear. It has a rugged surface, which might mean that it has been eroded enough to remove indications of its origin.

Abbiamo osservato, con la necessaria cura, tutti i dettagli da Lei evidenziati e, alla fine, qualche dubbio è rimasto e alcune risposte sono arrivate...Eccole:
1) "sembra un guscio" ---> si. Per giunta rotto. Profilo indefinibile, probabilmente - un tempo - era una roccia unica (tipo geode)
2) "sembra una farfalla" ---> effetto ottico
3) "strane ombre" ---> si: sono ombre
4) "pseudo fiore" ---> profilo indefinibile
5) "star" ---> è vero: assomiglia ad una stella marina, un pò afflosciata. Diciamo un rilievo "intrigante"
6) "manufatto" ---> profilo indefinibile
Molto verosimile (e stranissimo) lo pseudo-teschio - dettaglio situato in posizione centrale; effettivamente si notano altri rilievi strani, tipo gusci.
Nota: che cosa significa "profilo indefinibile"? Significa che si tratta di un rilievo il quale, a causa della definizione del frame, o delle ombre che lo caratterizzano, o delle sue peculiari fattezze, in fondo potrebbe essere qualsiasi cosa (ma ATTENZIONE: l'esperienza ci dice che, nel 99,99% dei casi i rilievi/profili indefinibili si risolvono in niente) e che, a seconda di chi lo osserva, si "rivela" come "dettaglio potenzialmente anomalo".

SOL085-ANOMALY-2N133908969EFF2232P1954L0M1.jpgA cloud or something else?2586 visiteQuesta è un'immagine importantissima: a Dx dell'Osservatore, piuttosto in basso, si vede distintamente una piccola scia bianca nel cielo, del tutto simile a quelle che lasciano i nostri jet quando passano. NON è una nuvola (avremo occasione di mostrarVi foto di nuvole Marziane scattate dalla superficie) e NON è un difetto dell'immagine. Si tratta di un qualcosa di reale, fotografato mentre "volava" su Marte, intorno alle 10 di mattina, ora locale. Ancora una Sonda Terrestre?!?
