Multiuniverse.jpgThe "Universe", inside...120 visite...Tutto avremmo potuto immaginare, tranne che il Sito "NASA - Picture of the Day" giungesse a mostrare un fantasyframe che esprime il medesimo concetto della nostra Sezione "The Universe Inside". Ora i casi sono due (se ci passate la battuta): o gli Ideatori e Curatori del Sito NASA ci hanno copiato in maniera palese, o - come peraltro è già accaduto in passato - gli Ideatori ed i Curatori di "Lun-Ex-It" e di "NASA - Picture of the Day", talvolta (ma sempre più spesso), hanno proprio le stesse idee ed intuizioni...
Caption originale:"Do nearly exact copies of you exist in other universes? If one or more of the multiverse hypotheses is correct, then quite possibly they do. Invece si tratta del binomio Luna-Venere, con entrambi gli astri ampiamente sovraesposti - in modo tale da conferire loro un'apparenza 'quasi-stellare' - ripresi dalle sommità di una montagna degli USA.

VENUS___SUN_2.jpgVenus and the Sun: the transit of June, 9, 2004 (2)146 visiteVenere, a dispetto del suo nome, della sua luminosità e di tutto quant'altro viene solitamente ad esso istantaneamente collegato (non ultima la nomea di "pianeta gemello della Terra"), è un astro violento ed inospitale; forse uno dei più inospitali in assoluto.
Esso è in perpetuo ricoperto da un'impenetrabile (ai nostri strumenti ottici) coltre di nuvole che, se da un lato rende il Pianeta oltremodo brillante, suggestivo e facile da riconoscersi nel cielo del mattino e della sera, dall'altro, come ovvio, ci impedisce di cogliere qualsiasi tipo di dettaglio del suo paesaggio sottostante.

Sundogs.jpgThe "Sundogs", again135 visiteCaption NASA originale da "NASA - Picture of the Day" del 23 Agosto 1999 :"What if you woke up one morning and saw more than one Sun in the sky? Most probably, you would be seeing Sundogs, extra-images of the Sun created by falling ice-crystals in the Earth's atmosphere. As water freezes in the atmosphere, small, flat, six-sided, ice crystals might be formed. As these crystals flutter to the ground, much time is spent with their faces flat, parallel to the ground. An observer may pass through the same plane as many of the falling ice crystals near sunrise or sunset. During this alignment, each crystal can act like a miniature lens, refracting sunlight into our view and creating parhelia, the technical term for sundogs. Sundogs were photographed here in a cloudy sky above the Very Large Array of radio telescopes. A bright Sundog is visible on the far right, and a dim one on the far left. Ice-crystals can create other strange illusions of the Sun and Moon including halos and pillars".

Richat_Crater.jpgRichat Crater173 visiteEd ecco il Richat Crater, a colori, che ci rammenta - caso mai ce ne fosse bisogno - che la "nostra" Terra è, in fondo, come Venere, come Marte e come infiniti altri Corpi Celesti dell'Universo.
Il "messaggio nella bottiglia" che ci viene consegnato attraverso questa splendida immagine del cratere Richat dice, a nostro parere, solo queste poche parole:
"Il nostro Pianeta non è e noi non siamo un'eccezione.
Il nostro Pianeta non è e noi non siamo diversi dal resto del Sistema Solare.
Il nostro Pianeta non è e noi non siamo diversi dal resto dell'Universo.
La Terra NON E' UNICA e noi NON SIAMO UNICI".
