Fake_Sunrise.jpgTotally Beautiful, but totally Fake83 visiteImmagine pubblicata sulla prestigiosa Rubrica "NASA - Astronomy Picture of the Day" il giorno 10 Ottobre 2011. Si tratta di un esempio ulteriore di come il "fake-ben-fatto" (e pure assai suggestivo) abbia un successo ed un seguito sempre pi eclatanti.
Noi, che pure adoriamo il Genere "Fantasy" (al quale questa foto appartiene per non meno del 99%) umilmente, dissentiamo e diciamo che un'immagine come questa (in s - lo ripetiamo a chiare lettere - davvero molto affascinante e particolare) meritava senz'altro un riconoscimento, ma NON quello del "NASA - Picture of the Day". The_Faces_of_Mars.jpgSo different and yet always the same...79 visiteDa "NASA - Picture of the Day" del giorno 5 Maggio 2010:"Enthusiastic astro-artists ranging from expert to beginner, the youngest age 10, all contributed their work to this entertaining panel featuring different faces of Mars. Their sketches are all based on telescopic views of the Red Planet from earlier this year, near its 2010 Opposition.
Mars offers the best telescopic views at opposition, since that's when it is closest and opposite the Sun in planet Earth's sky. Arranged in a spiral pattern, the sketches are positioned to follow the Planet's rotation.
No canals are visible(!), but large surface markings such as the dramatic, dark Syrtis Major are easily identified. As often seen through an astronomical telescope eyepiece, the Planet's orientation is inverted, with Mars' north polar cap at the bottom".
Nota Lunexit: dunque, se leggete attentamente "tra le righe" (ma nemmeno tanto: il concetto formulato dalla NASA a noi appare chiaro), anche il Grande Schiaparelli era un cretino ed i "Canali" se li sognati. Piuttosto triste come considerazione. Silente la NASA, invece, allorch si nota come la colorazione globale di Marte vari non solo da occhio ad occhio, ma anche - e abbastanza ovviamente - da stagione a stagione. Ah, gi, ma questo tipo di considerazione non si pu fare: la NASA ha gi detto (e mostrato) che Marte SEMPRE color salmone e giallastro (con tratti verdognoli) e quindi l'unica conclusione che possiamo trarre che quasi tutti gli artisti che hanno ritratto il Pianeta Rosso in questo collage devono necessariamente soffrire di un qualche disturbo nella percezione del colore. Glory.jpgGlory never fades...114 visiteIf you tried to enter this hall of fog, you would find it dissipates around you. The hall is actually an the mountain from which this picture was taken.
Known as "The Glory", the phenomenon is frequently seen from airplanes. The ring's center is not visible, but if it were, the shadow of the observer would appear. This shadow would likely change as clouds passed, creating a faux moving giant known as the Brocken Spectre.
Pictured above, several concentric rings of the glory appear to create a hall for this mountain king. The cause of The Glory has only been understood recently and is relatively complex. Briefly, small droplets of water reflect, refract, and diffract Sunlight backwards towards the Sun. The phenomenon has a counterpart in astronomy, where looking out from planet Earth in the direction opposite the Sun yields a bright spot called "The Gegenschein".MareKromium

Above, a standard digital camera captured a particularly active and colorful Auroral Corona that occurred last week above Alberta, Canada. With a shape reminiscent of a flower, the spectacular Aurora had an unusually high degree of detail. The vivid green and purple auroral colors are caused by high Atmospheric Oxygen and Hydrogen reacting to a burst of incoming electrons. Many photogenic Auroras have been triggered from a Solar Wind Stream that recently passed the Earth. The Auroras were unexpected because the initiating Sun has been unusually quiet lately".MareKromium

Named the Summer Solstice, today's maximum daylight is indicative of the high amount of sunlight this time of year that is primarily responsible for the heat of the Summer season. At the North Pole and for all places above the arctic circle, there will be no night -- the entire day today will be lit by sunlight. The situation is reversed in Earth's Southern Hemisphere, where today has the least sunlight of any day. Today's solstice is commemorated above by a well-planned picture of our five billion year old Sun rising behind the 2500 year old Parthenon in Greece. Trees and birds occupy the foreground, while a modern crane is shown restoring parts of this historic symbol of a cultural civilization".MareKromium
