(sebbene occorra portare l'immagine sino a full-size e quindi bisogna analizzarla operando su quadranti delimitati e quadrante per quadrante) delle aree leggermente 'offuscate' le quali, tuttavia, vanno sempre a confondere le rocce - diciamo così - più 'bizzarre' e poste, rispetto alla PanCam del Rover, ad una distanza che stimiamo tra i 15 ed i 25 metri.
Comunque sia, la validità - a fini non solo "artistici", ma anche di ricerca - di questo composite-frame è, sempre a nostro parere, decisamente superiore alla media degli ultimi 8/9 mesi.
Questa è la caption NASA originale:"Not long after conducting extensive investigations of tilted martian rock layers along its path, NASA's Spirit Rover prepared to resume the trek to the top of the Columbia Hills in June. This panorama, nicknamed Sunset Ridge, shows the terrain that lay ahead of the Rover on Spirit's 519th Sol (June 19, 2005). On the left is the summit of Husband Hill, Spirit's objective at that time".

Dopo questa 'dichiarazione aperta' (un evento già di per sè abbastanza sconcertante) e qualche debole riflesso dell'avvistamento su alcuni maggiori quotidiani, il discorso - senza che venisse più data alcuna informazione al riguardo - si chiudeva definitivamente.

SOL034-Spirit_RAT_Flag_RGB-A034R1.jpgThe "American Flag" on the arm of Spirit - Sol 34 (approx. true colors; credits: NASA)56 visiteL'immagine che Vi proponiamo relativamente al Sol 34 di Spirit (il quale è appena 'guarito' della sua misteriosa malattia...) fa parte di un trittico a colori approssimativamente veri che ci racconta delle operazioni di pulizia e lucidatura di Adirondack da parte delle spazzole di cui il braccio del Rover è munito. Spicca, sul braccio di Spirit, la Bandiera Americana.
E' chiaro, a questo punto, che se i colori dell'American Flag sono realistici (così come ci dicono alla NASA), ne deve conseguire necessariamente che anche i colori dello sfondo lo sono...Giusto?!?

Sono dei sub-frames - ossìa delle immagini a dimensioni ridotte - che ci mostrano i dintorni del Landing Site.
E' incredibile - ed anche piuttosto triste -, ma la sensazione che molti provano, guardando questi frames, è che sembra essere già passato un secolo dall'arrivo di Spirit su Marte e che questa sia "roba vecchia".
Roba vecchia.
Forse viviamo in un mondo che si muove troppo rapidamente, o forse in una società troppo distratta e superficiale.
O forse ciò che interessa la maggior parte delle persone sono solo le "novità".
Ma le "novità", per natura e definizione, durano poco: dopo resta la Storia e noi, per Marte (come per la Luna) crediamo che questa Storia debba essere ancora scritta, in larghissima misura.
Marte e la Luna non appartengono al passato: Marte e la Luna, che ci crediate o meno, appartengono al Futuro!

In alto, quasi all'angolo superiore Dx del frame, uno star-like object (o un difetto dell'immagine?). Durante i primi mesi di esplorazioni e peregrinazioni, sono stati ripresi veramente svariati star-like objects (specie nelle belle fotografie dei tramonti e/o delle albe Marziane). Poi, improvvisi come erano arrivati, gli star-like objects sono spariti. Ed anche le immagini di albe e tramonti sono sparite.
Strano.

(1)53 visiteSiamo giunti al Sol 265 e Spirit, ormai da parecchio tempo, si sta "guardando attorno" alla ricerca - crediamo - di un percorso relativamente sicuro. Speriamo che il Controllo Missione operi scelte intelligenti ed oculate perchè la "Passeggiata Marziana" si sta facendo sempre più interessante e sarebbe un peccato buttare via tutto ora...

Faccin)54 visiteCi sono volute ore di Lavoro per arrivare a questo tipo di immagine, caratterizzata da una qualità visiva, in termini di definizione e colorazione, largamente superiore a quella che la NASA mette a disposizione del Pubblico.
Vi preghiamo di tenerne conto, mentre la guardate e studiate.
