Fomalhaut-HST.jpgA ring of debris around Fomalhaut - HST112 visite"...Fra i diversi Strumenti per il Controllo di Massa di cui abbiamo parlato ce n'è uno che merita particolare attenzione e che si chiama "Deviatore".
Il suo funzionamento è semplicissimo; il rendimento, enorme.
L'uso del Deviatore viene precognizzato dal Trattato di T.W. Veerwaandt sul "Controllo degli Organismi Senzienti e degli Elementi Devianti" e già in quella fonte si prevede l'impiego, come Meccanismi Diffusori, della Televisione (primariamente) e della Letteratura Secondaria o Terziaria - detta anche "Letteratura Vile" - in misura minore.
Si tratta, detto in maniera davvero semplicissima, di far parlare e di far interagire con le Masse degli individui (che chiameremo "Testimonial") i quali non hanno, rispettivamente, nulla da dire nè da trasmettere.
Il Deviatore ha il compito primario di distogliere l'attenzione delle Masse dalla focalizzazione dei loro interessi su talune problematiche di primario interesse Sociale, Culturale e Scientifico..."

In the center is a large but peculiar elliptical galaxy dubbed NGC 1316. Detailed inspection of the NGC 1316 system indicates that it began absorbing a small neighboring galaxy about 100 MY ago. Gas from the galactic collision has fallen inward toward the massive central black hole, with friction heating the gas up to 10 million degrees. For reasons not yet understood, two oppositely pointed fast moving jets of particles then developed, eventually smashing into the ambient material on either side of the giant elliptical galaxy. The result is a huge reservoir of hot gas that emits radio waves, observed as the orange (false-color) radio lobes in the above image. The radio image is superposed on an optical survey image of the same part of the sky. Strange patterns in the radio lobes likely indicate slight changes in the directions of the jets".

N63A-2-SR.jpgN63A - Supernova Remnant128 visiteWhat has this supernova left behind? As little as 2.000 years ago, light from a massive stellar explosion in the Large Magellanic Clouds (LMC) first reached planet Earth. The LMC is a close galactic neighbor of our Milky Way Galaxy and the rampaging explosion front is now seen moving out - destroying or displacing ambient gas clouds while leaving behind relatively dense knots of gas and dust. What remains is one of the largest supernova remnants in the LMC: N63A. Many of the surviving dense knots have been themselves compressed and may further contract to form new stars. Some of the resulting stars may then explode in a supernova, continuing the cycle. Pictured above is a close-up of one of the largest remaining knots of dust and gas in N63A taken by the orbiting Hubble Space Telescope. N63A spans over 25 light years and lies about 150.000 LY away toward the southern constellation of Dorado.

In fact, the central S-shape seen here is well known as the "Snake Nebula". It is also listed as Barnard 72 (B72), one of 182 dark markings of the sky cataloged in the early 20th century by astronomer E. E. Barnard. Unlike bright emission nebulae and star clusters, Barnard's nebulae are interstellar dark clouds of obscuring gas and dust. Their shapes are visible in cosmic silhouette only because they lie in the foreground along the line of sight to rich star fields and glowing stellar nurseries near the plane of our Galaxy. Many of Barnard's dark nebulae are themselves likely sites of future star formation. Barnard 72 is a few light years across and about 650 light years away".

NGC-6559-0.jpgNGC 6559 - The "Story" of a Star Forming Region85 visiteIn questa immagine vediamo delle nebulose ad emissione - ossìa che brillano di luce propria - di color rosso (Idrogeno); nebulose a riflessione - ossìa che riflettono la luce delle stelle circostanti - di color blu (costituite da polveri) - e nebulose ad assorbimento - o 'nebulose oscure' - le quali, anch'esse formate da polveri interstellari, 'assorbono e, in un certo senso, soffocano' la luce degli oggetti circostanti.
Ed ecco la 'storia' che NGC 6559 ci racconta: le prime stelle ultra-massicce che si sono formate per addensamento dei gas presenti nella Regione emetteranno luce, onde mareali e possenti venti solari i quali eroderanno e ridefiniranno questa zona del Cosmo. Tuttavia, queste ciclopiche stelle non avranno una lunga vita: esse, in tempi relativamente brevi, esploderanno.
Un 'caos cosmico' regnerà per qualche decina di milioni di anni, ma poi tutte le polveri verranno consumate, i gas residui saranno dispersi e ciò che "vedremo" sarà solo uno splendido ammasso aperto di giovani stelle...
