This image shows the trench informally called "Snow White".
Two samples were delivered to the Wet Chemistry Laboratory, which is part of Phoenix's Microscopy, Electrochemistry, and Conductivity Analyzer (MECA).
The first sample was taken from the surface area just left of the trench and informally named "Rosy Red". It was delivered to the Wet Chemistry Laboratory on Sol 30 (June 25, 2008). The second sample, informally named "Sorceress", was taken from the center of the "Snow White" trench and delivered to the Wet Chemistry Laboratory on Sol 41 (July 6, 2008)". MareKromium

The foreground and sky images were taken on Sol 54, or the 54th Martian Day of the mission (July 20, 2008). The solar images were taken between 22:00 and 02:00 M.L.T., during the nights of Soles 46 to 56. During this period of 11 Soles, the Sun's path got slightly lower over the Northern Horizon, causing the lack of smoothness to the curve. This pan captures the polar nature of the Phoenix Mission in its similarity to time lapse pictures taken above the Arctic Circle on Earth". MareKromium

Faccin)63 visiteCommento tecnico a cura di Marco Faccin:"...Questi frames sono stati evidentemente degradati di risoluzione - una camera "ccd" non fornisce questo tipo di immagini (...) pazienza, lavoriamo lo stesso come se la nostra scheda grafica andasse solo a 16 bit, ovvero con 64k di palette. Una prima conseguenza di ci che le sfumature divengono impossibile (ed il risultato si vede...); saturando al 100%, si pu notare come esista una differenza di colore nel cielo, dovuta quasi sicuramente ad una stratificazione (diversi elementi e/o diverse densit dei medesimi elementi, questo non mi ancora possibile dirlo con certezza).
Nella immagine ultima a Dx, ottenuta con la tecnica (...), si evidenzia una concentrazione di colore maggiore nel cielo, il che mi fa supporre la presenza di qualcosa di pi solido (forse nuvole di polveri sottili o, chiss?, una "sacca di umidit"...).
La verit che se avessi avuto i frames originali almeno a 24 bit avrei sicuramente potuto circoscrivere con precisione questo fenomeno, mentre invece - con questa "materia prima", ne posso arrivare a mostrare solo una parte.
Insomma, la NASA ci ha nascosto qualcosa, almeno in questo specifico frangente, poich abbiamo tanti altri frames di cielo che non sono stati degradati in questo modo (sfacciato), ed il risultato era visibile operando il processing addizionale e la superdefinizione, per quindi giungere a vedere un bellissimo cielo limpido e sfumato, senza scalini...".
Che altro aggiungere? I soliti grandissimi complimenti al Dr Faccin, per la Cura, l'Attenzione, la Competenza Tecnica e la"Voglia" (quella stessa "Voglia" che, alle volte, la NASA ci fa un p passare...).MareKromium
