This area was designated "Region D" in the process of evaluating potential Landing Sites for NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander. The location chosen for safe landing sites is within the box bordered with a heavy black line along the western boundary of this region.

Elevation in the region varies from about 3600 meters (11.800 feet) to 4400 meters (14.400 feet) below the zero reference point for Martian Surface Elevation.
The topographical information is from the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter on NASA's Mars Global Surveyor Orbiter".

The footpad at the bottom center is about 1 meter (3 feet) below the Spacecraft Deck seen at the lower left. Overlaid images show trenches dug to either nearly pure water ice or ice-cemented soil.
Analyses of samples taken from these trenches give clues to the history of the Region.

This Approximately True Color view combines images taken on several dates during the five months Phoenix studied its surroundings after landing on May 25, 2008".

Nota Lunexit: come questo frame mostra e dimostra chiaramente, dall'Equatore alle Pianure Artiche, Marte - secondo la NASA - NON SOLO E' MONOCRMATICO, MA HA SEMPRE LO STESSO colore!

Una posizione, questa, tanto estrema ed indifendibile - avendo Natura, Logica ed Esperienza alla mano - quanto, incredibile dictu, quietamente ed acriticamente accettata dal Gotha degli Scienziati pi quotati del Mondo in tema di Scienze Planetarie. E questa situazione, a nostro umile avviso, assolutamente assurda ed incommentabile.

The image was taken on Sol 144, or the 144th day of the mission, Oct. 20, 2008.
Temperatures measured on Sol 151, the last day weather data were received, showed overnight lows of minus128 Fahrenheit (-89 Celsius) and day time highs in the minus 50 F (-46 C) range.
The last communication from the Spacecraft came on Nov. 2, 2008".

L'abbiamo detto un p di volte, e lo ripetiamo: SIAMO ONORATI! Ma se, di quando in quando, la NASA desse a Lunexit quello che di Lunexit...SAREMMO PIU' CONTENTI.
