Opportunity had arrived at the Western Rim of the about 13-mile-diameter (approx. 21-Km-diameter) Endeavour Crater four days earlier. A portion of the N/E Rim of Endeavour forms the distant horizon in this view. An Unnamed Crater about 66 feet (approx. 20 meters) in diameter is on the Endeavour Rim near Opportunity's arrival point. From a position South of Odyssey, this view is dominated by a rock informally named "Ridout" on the N/E Rim of Odyssey. The rock is roughly the same size as the Rover, which is 4,9 feet (such as 1,5 meters) long".MareKromium

E' sin dai tempi del "Martian Rat" (il "Topo Marziano", individuato dal MER Spirit, durante le sue iniziali peregrinazioni, e forse troppo frettolosamente bollato come "svista") che in molti - noi per primi - si domandano se "tutte le cose strane" che si vedono su Marte sìano, effettivamente ed esclusivamente, delle illusioni ottiche, dei chiaro/scuri ingannevoli e/o delle semplici sviste vere e proprie, oppure se, su Marte, "qualcosa" di indigeno e di "alieno" - per definizione - si aggira nei pressi dei Rover, forse incuriosito dal ronzìo e dalle vibrazioni, leggere ma comunque percepibili, emesso dalla macchina allorchè essa transita sul terreno del Pianeta Rosso.
Questo particolare è, nella sua oggettiva bizzarria, un nuovo tassello che va ad inserirsi in un mosaico che, forse perchè troppo grande e complesso, ancora non ci è dato di poter completare...MareKromium
