The view is toward the South and includes rock exposures north of Erebus Crater, with the crater in the background. The Rover will investigate the exposed rocks in the foreground and will take additional PanCam images of Erebus Crater, which is about 300 mt (about 984 feet) across.
Erebus Crater dwarfs the landing-site crater, Eagle Crater, which measures about 22 mt (72 feet) in diameter. And, it is nearly twice the diameter of Endurance Crater, which, at 130 meters (430 feet) wide, has been compared to a stadium.
The camera's red filter was used for taking the images in this mosaic. It admits light with a wavelength of 750 nnmts".

OPP-SOL616-1P182868229EFF62LAP2398L7M1.jpgMartian Pavements - Sol 61658 visiteVi proponiamo questa bella immagine degli outcrops che circondano il Cratere Erebus e Vi risparmiamo tutte le altre immagini relative ai dintorni di Opportunity per due ordini di motivi: 1) si tratta di panorami ridondanti che ormai sono diventati stucchevoli anche per noi...; 2) la maggior parte di questi panorami si caratterizza per il fatto che tali frames sembrano più disegnini fatti ricalcando delle fotografie piuttosto che fotografie vere e proprie. Come ovvio, potete verificare Voi stessi sul Sito NASA Ufficiale e dedicato ai MER Spirit ed Opportunity ma, se accettate un nostro piccolo e modesto consiglio...non perdete tempo inutilmente verificando ancora una volta ciò chiunque abbia un minimo di buon senso e competenza ha già visto e sottolineato da mesi!
