SOU-SOL071-1.jpgGiant Rock?
Caption NASA originale:"This image mosaic of part of the Rock Garden was taken by the Soujourner Rover's Left Front Camera on Sol 71 (such as September 14, 1997). The rock Shark is at left center and Half Dome is at right. Fine-scale textures on the rocks are clearly seen. Broken crust-like material is visible at bottom center".

SOU-SOL013-Sunset-NASA.gifSunset over Ares Vallis - Sol 13 (GIF-Movie - False Colors; credits: NASA)84 visiteCaption NASA:"Animation of the Martian Sunset.
This movie is made from 9 images of the twilight following Sunset over Ares Vallis. The images are enhanced in order to show the very subtle features in the haze, which are probably caused by layers that are slightly dustier than the surrounding air. The color is not the true color of the sunset - that is shown in other images.
At the beginning, the Sun is on the horizon just to the right of the frame, and it sinks during the next hour. At the time of the last image the sky is only 1% as bright as at the beginning, but the IMP can easily adapt to the darkness and return these pictures. Because there is so much dust extending high into the Martian Sky, the Sky stays bright for more than an hour after sunset".MareKromium

Caption originale:"Mars Pathfinder's forward rover ramp can be seen successfully unfurled in this color image, taken on Sol 3. This ramp was not used for the deploymentof the microrover Sojourner, which occurred at the end of Sol 2. When this image was taken, Sojourner was still latched to one of the lander's petals, waiting for the command sequence that would execute its descent off of the lander's petal. The image helped Pathfinder scientists determine whether to deploy the rover using the forward or backward ramps and the nature of the first rover traverse. The metallic object at the lower part of the image is the lander's low-gain antenna. The square at the end of the ramp is one of the spacecraft's magnetic targets. Dust that accumulates on the magnetic targets will later be examined by Sojourner's Alpha Proton X-Ray Spectrometer instrument for chemical analysis. At center, a lander petal is visible".
