Epimetheus-PIA06640.jpg
Epimetheus-PIA06640.jpgEpimetheus from 1,8 MKM88 visiteCaption NASA originale:"Small and asteroid-like in appearance, Epimetheus is seen here with Saturn's nearly edge-on rings in the distance. Epimetheus (that has been defined by NASA as a "rubble" moon - rubble----->macerie/detriti) has a mean density that is less than that of water, suggesting that it might be somewhat porous.
The image was taken in visible light with the Cassini spacecraft narrow-angle camera on March 12, 2005, at a distance of approx. 1,8 MKM (such as 1,1 MMs) from Saturn and at a phase angle of 90°. Resolution in the original image was 10 Km per pixel. The image has been contrast-enhanced and magnified by a factor of two to aid visibility".

The_Rings-PIA10550.jpgA "Ghost" in the B-Ring (True - but strongly enhanced - Colors; credits: Lunar Explorer Italia)88 visiteCaption NASA:"The ghostly features in Saturn's B-Ring called "Spokes" are making an appearance again as the Cassini Spacecraft continues its tour of the Saturn System.
These dusty features on the Rings are often wedge-shaped, as this one is, with the inner portions of the Spoke being wider than the outer portions due to electromagnetic effects on the dust particles.

The image was taken in Visible Light with the Cassini Spacecraft wide-angle camera on Nov. 26, 2008 at a distance of approximately 922,000 kilometers (573,000 miles) from Saturn and at a Sun-Saturn-Spacecraft, or Phase, Angle of 39°.
Image scale is roughly 52 Km (about 32 miles) per pixel".

Enceladus-PIA12713-PCF-LXTT.jpgThe "Fountains" of Enceladus at "High Phase" (Absolute Natural Colors; credits for the additional process. and color.: Dr Paolo C. Fienga - Lunexit Team)88 visiteCaption NASA:"Saturn's moon Enceladus, imaged at High Phase, shows off its spectacular Water Ice Plumes emanating from its South Polar Region.
This image was captured at a Phase, or Sun-Enceladus-Spacecraft, Angle of 159° so that Sunlight would reveal the backlit plumes.
Sunlight brightly illuminates Terrain on the left. Light reflected off Saturn illuminates the rest of the moon more dimly. This view looks toward the Trailing Hemisphere of Enceladus. North is down. Background stars, elongated by the movement of the Spacecraft during the exposure, are also visible.

The image was taken in Visible Light with the Cassini Spacecraft narrow-angle camera on Oct. 13, 2009. The view was obtained at a distance of approx. 431.000 Km (about 268.000 miles) from Enceladus.
Image scale is roughly 3 Km (about 1,9 miles) per pixel".

Janus-PIA14607-PCF-LXTT-IPF.jpgClosing-up on Janus (Absokute Natural Colors; credits for the additional process. and color.: Dr Paolo C. Fienga/Lunar Explorer Italia/Italian Planetary Foundation)88 visiteDark and deep Shadows were obscuring most part of Janus' cratered Surface, when the NASA - Cassini Spacecraft took a close look at this Saturnian moon during the Fly-By which occurred on March 27, 2012.

This view is centered on Terrain located at approx. at 13° South Latitude and 26° West Longitude. The image was taken in Visible Light with the NASA - Cassini Spacecraft Narrow-Angle Camera, at a distance of approximately 28.000 miles (such as about 45.061 Km) from Janus and at a Sun-Janus-Cassini Spacecraft , or Phase, Angle of 109°. Image scale is 892 feet (272 meters) per pixel.

This frame (which is an Original NASA - Cassini Spacecraft b/w frame published on the NASA - Planetary Photojournal with the ID n. PIA 14607) has been additionally processed, contrast enhanced, magnified and then colorized in Absolute Natural Colors (such as the colors that a human eye would actually perceive if someone were onboard the NASA - Cassini Spacecraft and then looked outside, towards the Saturnian moon Janus), by using an original technique created - and, in time, dramatically improved - by the Lunar Explorer Italia Team. Different colors, as well as different shades of the same color, mean, among others, the existence of different Elements present on the Surface of Janus, each having a different Albedo (---> Reflectivity) and Chemical Composition.
