Ora, dato che su quest'ultimo assunto io ho qualche serio dubbio, mi accontento di pensare che la nostra Scienza sia solo "figliastra" della Scienza Universale e, se così realmente fosse, me ne rallegrerei, poiché un rapporto imperfetto è comunque meglio della mancanza di rapporto..."

As you can see, the plane is cut by dark dust lanes, clouds and several dusty regions. You can clearly see the 2 Magellanic Clouds (note the prominent bar and incipient spiral structure of the Large Cloud). Near the Small Magellanic Cloud is the globular cluster 47 Tucanae. Cutting almost north-south through one side of the bulge is the dwarf Sagittarius Galaxy which, along with the Clouds, is a Milky Way's satellite Galaxy.

NASA's SST was able to capture the light from it by using heat-seeking infrared eyes. Spectra are created when a spectrograph spreads light out into its basic parts, like a prism turning sunlight into a rainbow. The spectra contain the signatures of molecules that contribute to an object's light. In this case, the galaxy's spectrum reveals the fingerprint for silicate dust (large dip at right), a planetary building block like sand, only smaller. This particular fingerprint is important because it helps to determine how far away the galaxy lies as well as how much the galaxy's light had stretched ("redshifted") during its journey to SST's eyes. Because the universe is expanding, a galaxy's light will shift toward reddish wavelengths as it moves away from us. This galaxy has a redshift of 1,95, meaning that its light travelled for 11 BY before 'hitting" SST's eyes. The presence of the silicate fingerprint is also significant because it implies that galaxies were ripe for planetary formation 11 billion years ago - back to a time when the universe was 3 billion years old. The universe is currently believed to be 13.5 billion years old. This is the furthest back in time that silicate dust has been detected around a galaxy.

Megamaser.jpgMegamaser125 visitePrima di tutti capiamo cos' un "Megamaser". Sostanzialmente questo tipo di oggetto cosmico senza massa l'equivalente di un laser ma a microonde. Un "maser" solitamente viene prodotto e amplificato da pianeti, comete, nuvole e stelle. Invece un "Megamaser", che la sua versione potenziata pu uscire da galassie ultra luminose o da Buchi Neri Supermassicci Attivi.
Questa scoperta stata fatta dall'astronomo Marcin Glowacki e dal suo team di ricercatori. La fonte del Megamaser sembra essere una galassia chiamata WISEA J033046.26−275518.3 ora nota come Nkalakatha.
"Quando due galassie come la Via Lattea e la Galassia di Andromeda si scontrano, i fasci di luce che escono dalla collisione possono essere visti a distanze cosmologiche", ha detto l'astrofisico Jeremy Darling dell'Universit del Colorado.
"I Megamasers Idrossilici si comportano come luci brillanti che dicono: ecco una collisione di galassie che sta creando nuove stelle e alimentando enormi Buchi Neri".
