Fienga - Lunexit Team)101 visiteUn interessante dettaglio dei dintorni di Ascraeus Mons ci permette di individuare i più comuni rilievi Marziani e di ammirarne le affascinanti (e, alle volte, assai misteriose...) fattezze - pensate, ad esempio, alla Pits' Chain che vedete sul lato Dx del frame, a circa mezza altezza.
Ma la notizia del giorno (23.11.2006) è un'altra: MGS è ufficialmente "defunta".
O meglio: alla NASA dicono di aver perso il segnale - il che equivale ad aver perso la Sonda, ma che è comunque evento ben diverso dal fatto che, ad esempio, MGS sia sfuggita all'orbita sulla quale era parcheggiata e sia andata persa nello spazio oppure si sia disintegrata negli strati alti dell'atmosfera o - l'ipotesi più improbabile - abbia compltato i suoi Soles schiantandosi sul Pianeta Rosso.
Che dire? Semplice e pura Verità o triste panzana? A noi, come sapete, i "misteri" a tutti i costi non piacciono, ma Vi invitiamo a riflettere su una cosa: poco più di un mese fa, la rubrica "MGS - Picture of the Day" veniva soppressa per "carenza di fondi". Oggi...MGS va perduta e non se ne parla più. Nostra opinione? Nessun mistero UFO e nessun cover-up spionistico, ma solo una questione economica: con il felice arrivo nello Spazio di Marte di MRO, la presenza di MGS era ormai diventata un elemento ridondante e costoso per l'Amministrazione Spaziale. Un "burden" (un onere), come dicono alla NASA. Che fare? "Spegnerla" e far inquietare i fans di MGS? Ma no, certo che no: MGS ha servito "con onore" e per anni la causa della Scienza ed è stata un grandissimo successo; "facciamola perdere nello spazio: una fine nobile e misteriosa. L'ideale per il Pubblico".
In quanti, infatti, adesso si affanneranno a dire e scrivere della "Misteriosa Scomparsa di MGS"?
In quanti ci ricameranno sopra storie di "alieni", di "immagini segrete" e di "fughe di notizie clamorose e scomode"?
Quanta eco e quanta pubblicità deriverà dalla repentina "scomparsa" di MGS?
That's business, dear Friends: lo sapete bene Voi e lo sappiamo bene noi (e non chiamateci "cinici", per favore: siamo solo realisti e razionali).
Che altro dire? Solo una chiosa: MGS è morta, Viva MGS!MareKromium

PIA 18240) has been additionally processed, magnified to aid the visibility of the details, contrast enhanced, Gamma corrected and then colorized in Absolute Natural Colors (such as the colors that a human eye would actually perceive if someone were onboard the NASA - Mars Odyssey Orbiter and then looked down, towards the Surface of Mars), by using an original technique created - and, in time, dramatically improved - by the Lunar Explorer Italia Team.MareKromium
