Megamaser.jpgMegamaser123 visitePrima di tutti capiamo cos' un "Megamaser". Sostanzialmente questo tipo di oggetto cosmico senza massa l'equivalente di un laser ma a microonde. Un "maser" solitamente viene prodotto e amplificato da pianeti, comete, nuvole e stelle. Invece un "Megamaser", che la sua versione potenziata pu uscire da galassie ultra luminose o da Buchi Neri Supermassicci Attivi.
Questa scoperta stata fatta dall'astronomo Marcin Glowacki e dal suo team di ricercatori. La fonte del Megamaser sembra essere una galassia chiamata WISEA J033046.26−275518.3 ora nota come Nkalakatha.
"Quando due galassie come la Via Lattea e la Galassia di Andromeda si scontrano, i fasci di luce che escono dalla collisione possono essere visti a distanze cosmologiche", ha detto l'astrofisico Jeremy Darling dell'Universit del Colorado.
"I Megamasers Idrossilici si comportano come luci brillanti che dicono: ecco una collisione di galassie che sta creando nuove stelle e alimentando enormi Buchi Neri".
Il team ha gi pianificato osservazioni di follow-up dell'affascinante oggetto e si aspetta di trovare molti altri Megamaser a mano a mano che il lavoro di ricerca continuer.MareKromiumOtt 21, 2022
