OPP-SOL306-1P155364996EFF38EVP2555R7M1.jpgTipuna Rock and "water on Mars" (1) - H. 17:06 MLT - SOL 30688 visiteQuesta roccia (battezzata "Tipuna" dai Tecnici del Controllo Missione) presenta delle caratteristiche superficiali che, già di per loro stesse, sono sufficienti a farla entrare di diritto nella Galleria delle "Mars Oddities". Ma non è la roccia in sè, questa volta, a costituire l'oggetto dell'indagine, quanto ciò che si può vedere alla sua base (in basso), leggermente a Dx dell'Osservatore. C'è una specie di piccola "chiazza" grigia ed uniforme fra Tipuna e delle piccole asperità appuntite (razorbacks?) di colore bianco che risultano visibili sull'estremità inferiore del frame. Qualcuno ha visto dell'acqua in quella chiazza grigia: acqua stagnante. Così pare, ma noi crediamo che si debba andare MOLTO cauti prima di lasciarsi andare a simili proclami...

Sol 751: Spirit stowed the RA and executed a commanded 5,3-meter (17-foot) drive to Posey using visual odometry. The drive went exactly as planned and ended with the Rover in place to immediately begin scientific studies with the RA without further adjustment of the Rover's position;
Sol 752: Spirit conducted light remote sensing and recharged the Rover's batteries.

Elevation maps produced from the PanCam imagery taken at and near the summit of Husband Hill showed a safe traverse (with vehicle tilts under about 20°) across ridge lines east of the Summit. These ridge lines (informally called "Haskin Upper Ridge" and "Haskin East Ridge") are the planned traverse paths for coming weeks. When possible, Spirit will drive each day".
