The basaltic plains located east of the Columbia Hills can be seen in the distance beyond East Basin. The rim of Thira Crater is just visible on the distant horizon some 15 Km (about 9,3 miles) away".

In ogni caso, anche se le elaborazioni fattibili (e significative) su questo tipo di frame non sono molte, abbiamo un possibile/plausibile argomento di discussione: forse che sul fondo del cratere denominato East Basin ci sono - per caso... - delle dune nere (o, comunque, di colore molto scuro) che tanto ricordano le Dark Dunes delle aree Marziane Polari e presso-Polari?
O si tratta di un effetto ingannevole determinato dal tipo di filtro/colore usato?
