Ma Erebus...Dov'è?
Quanto è lontano il margine esterno (la "murata" o "rim", se affiorante) di Erebus?
O forse Opportunity sta già "marciando" su Erebus (come qualcuno di noi sta pensando)?

Erebus Crater, the Rover's next target, lies less than 100 mt (about 328 feet) south of its current position. This view is a mosaic produced from from frames taken by the Rover's NavCam during Opportunity's Sol 582 (Sept. 13, 2005). It shows fractured blocks of ancient sedimentary rock separated by recent sand dunes.
MER Team Scientists are investigating both the composition of the rocks and the processes by which the distinctive fracture pattern arose".

La risposta esatta - e dobbiamo dire ancora una volta "bravi!" ai nostri Analisti delle immagini i quali hanno anticipato i commenti ufficiali NASA - è la seconda: Opportunity è già all'interno di Erebus Crater!
