Questo comportamento è coerente con l'ipotesi del "bolide", ma l'ipotesi di un bolide che si "incendi" nel vuoto è, in sè, insostenibile.
Purtroppo.

(detail mgnf n. 3)60 visiteNotate ora la "coda" di questa striscia di luce: notate come essa suggerisca un'ipotesi di "dissolvenza", concettualmente simile a quello che accade ad una traccia lasciata nel cielo da un aviogetto (la quale, poco dopo essere stata creata, viene spazzata via dal vento)?
Ora, quanto è compatibile questa costruzione logica con l'ipotesi del "bolide" (per non parlare dell'ipotesi del "raggio cosmico")?
Poco. Davvero poco.
Purtroppo non conosciamo i tempi di scatto (un millesimo di secondo o, per esempio, 10 secondi? O forse di più?), ma la nostra esperienza in materia di fotografia ci spinge a ritenere che questo scatto è stato molto breve (forse non più di un paio di secondi). Perchè? Perchè non si vedono stelle - che, con una posa appena più lunga, apparirebbero a centinaia/migliaia - e perchè la Striscia di Luce NON è mossa (come invece dovrebbe inevitabilmente accadere se si fosse trattato di uno scatto a posa media o medio-lunga).
Conclusioni? Noi non ne abbiamo. Però abbiamo (ed avete anche Voi) parecchi elementi interessanti per valutare ed ipotizzare...

Cassini, rispetto ad Encelado, è quasi ferma (ed anche le stelle sullo sfondo lo dimostrano). E tuttavia, qualcosa "si fugge" davanti agli occhi elettronici della Sonda...
Probabilmente si tratta solo di una delle tante "Lune Minori" di Saturno oppure - chissà - si potrebbe trattare di un "Corpo Errante". Ma la Verità...La Verità era (e resta) elusiva.

Sarà un fantomatico "streak", sulla cui origine si potrebbe discutere per secoli senza però arrivare a nulla, oppure si tratta di una semplicissima "star-trail"?

Nota: volevamo commentare, ma...è fiato sprecato. Qualunque ipotesi facessimo, dalla più logica e razionale (tipo: "è una luna di Saturno che è venuta "mossa), alla più esotica (tipo: dato che le stelle sullo sfondo sono - quasi - puntiformi, si può dedurre che lo Streak rapprsenta un oggetto luminoso che SI STAVA MUOVENDO MOLTO RAPIDAMENTE rispetto a Cassini), sarebbero comunque ipotesi inutili, in quanto non sostanziabili.
Dunque...decidete Voi che cosa Vi piace immaginare di più!

StreamerChannel-PIA10509.jpgStreamer Channel54 visiteOk: quando Lunexit "chiama", la NASA...risponde! Pubblicata oggi (11 Novembre 2008) sul Planetary Photojournal, ecco la risposta NASA alla nostra illazione: la "vibrazione" dell'Anello "F" di Saturno è, effettivamente, uno Streamer Channel, provocato dalla Luna Pastore Prometheus.
L'effetto vibrazionale appare, nel filmato GIF del Dr Barca, più eclatante (e quindi fisicamente impossibile) solo perchè la ripresa - in quel primo contesto - era stata effettuata da una distanza inferiore ai 970.000 Km di questo frame.
Dunque nessuna "Onda Gravitazionale", ma solo uno Streamer Channel (ossìa un "canale" che viene scavato - letteralmente - da Prometheus quando attraversa l'Anello "F" di Saturno, e cioè una volta per orbita) particolarmente grande e ripreso da (relativamente) vicino.
Questa parte del Mistero, quindi, è risolta. Peccato che la NASA non ci abbia detto nulla, invece, dell'Oggetto Anomalo, ma chissà, magari in futuro...

The view was acquired at a distance of approx. 970.000 Km (such as about 602.000 miles) from Saturn and at a Sun-Ring-Spacecraft, or Phase, Angle of 45°.

The regular spacing of some of the features extending from the core indicates that they could all be produced by the perturbing effect of a single body as it passes close by. Scientists are examining Cassini images closely in an attempt to determine whether there are tiny moonlets - or perhaps transient clumps of material - orbiting Saturn near the F-Ring core. The researchers believe the streamer features seen here could be caused by a related phenomenon to that by which Prometheus produces streamers in the F-Ring.

Nota: quanto scommetete che, in un prossimo futuro, il Prof. Hoagland (o anche qualcun altro della Sua Scuola) ci verrà a raccontare che gli Streamers (---> corpi fluttuanti) non sono altro che minuscole astronavi le quali hanno il compito di bilanciare gravitazionalmente la porzione più esterna degli Anelli di Saturno e che l'intero "Impianto degli Anelli" non è altro - in fondo - che una gigantesca opera di Ingegneria Planetaria, creata per mero "piacere visivo" e lasciataci da chissà quale Civilità a testimonianza del suo glorioso passato? Insomma, dopo la Sfinge e le Piramidi, perchè non dirigere il prossimo business interplanetario verso l'"Architettura Cosmica", di cui gli Anelli di Saturno non rappresentano altro che un timido preliminare?!?...
