Dust Storm over Utopia Planitia This close-up image of a Dust Storm on Mars was acquired by the Mars Color Imager instrument onboard NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter on Nov. 7, 2007, around 15:00 Local Time on Mars. Scientists working with NASA's Curiosity Rover, which is set to land on Mars on Aug. 5 PDT (Aug. 6 EDT), are monitoring Mars each day for similar small Storms that could either drift over the Landing Site or stir up dust that moves as haze over the Site. This image is centered on Utopia Planitia (53,6° North Latitude and 147,9° East Longitude), along the North Seasonal Polar Cap Edge as it is in late Northern Winter. When NASA's Curiosity Rover lands on Mars, it will be late Southern Winter. Scientists are looking at similar small storms that form near the South Seasonal Polar Cap Edge. The Dust Storm pictured here was short-lived, lasting less than 24 hours. The image also shows the Seasonal North Polar Cap (at the top of the frame) and gravity-wave Water-Ice Clouds coming off of Mie Crater, just South of the Storm. Gravity-Wave Clouds, also called "Lee-Wave Clouds", are Clouds that result from changes in Atmospheric Pressure, Temperature and height because of "Vertical Displacement", such as when Wind blows over a Mountain or a (huge) Crater Wall. The projection of the image is Polar Stereographic and the image has a resolution of about 0,6 miles (1 Km) per pixel. North is indicated with an arrow in this image. The white scale bar is 93 miles (approx. 150 kilometers).

Avrei tanto voluto seguire l'arrivo di Curiosity perchè, come sapete, Marte è sempre al centro dei miei pensieri. Ma mio padre, ormai stremato dalle innumerevoli cure, se n'è andato per sempre domenica scorsa e questa tempesta di sabbia ben mi rappresenta, ora. Vi abbraccio tutti.

Ivana, un FORTISSIMO abbraccio da parte mia e dei miei Familiari. Preparerò un frame da pubblicare con dedica a Tuo Papà (però dovresti dirmi come si chiamava), a nome dell'Astronave Lunar Explorer e di Tutto l'Equipaggio. Ti sono/siamo vicino/i, SEMPRE. paolo & Friends

Grazie, è un grande conforto per me che non so rassegnarmi. Mio padre si chiamava Oliviero, aveva 77 anni, era un eterno ragazzo, un bellissimo peter pan dagli occhi blu. Un animo inquieto e tormentato, spero abbia trovato pace.

Un abbraccio anche da parte mia Ivana.
Come ripeto spesso, non pensate o credete MAI che la morte sia la fine di un qualcosa.
Non esiste in nessuno posto dell'Universo la possibilità che qualcuno vada via per sempre.
La morte è la rinascita in un altra zona dell'Universo. Una migrazione necessaria che, per chi rimane in quest altra parte dell'Universo, crea l’illusione che ci si possa staccare per sempre dai familiari e dal mondo che conosciamo.
Per quanto incredibile, tutto questo non è vero.
L’universo (compreso delle vite di tutti) è sempre e solamente, una continua rinascita, da una zona dell’Universo ad un'altra zona dell’Universo. O, semplicemente, da una dimensione ad un altra dimensione. Ed esiste SOLO la dimensione che allegoricamente chiamiamo paradiso. E lì un giorno, ci rincontreremo TUTTI.
E’ certo, Ivana, che tuo padre si trovi ora in una dimensione di pace che noi a fatica, con la nostra mente e corpo, riusciamo a capire, ma ti assicuro che si sta di un bene da non trovare le parole.
Io non posso spiegarti perchè lo so..., ma lo so.
Vi rincontrerete stai tranquilla.

Condoglianze Ivana, mio padre non c'è più dal 1989, e da allora, quando nelle serate libere da nubi mi sdraio sul terrazzo ad ammirare le stelle, è li che mi trovo a "parlare" con lui in silenzio. Sicuramente anche tuo padre avrà trovato la meritata pace. Un saluto a te e tua madre.
