Southward View (White-Balanced Natural Colors; credits for the additional process. and color.: Dr Paolo C. Fienga/Lunar Explorer Italia/Italian Planetary Foundation) This very suggestive picture shows us some of the Terrain that the NASA - Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Opportunity is crossing in a (always relatively speaking) flat area of Endeavour Crater, called "Botany Bay", and located on the way toward "Solander Point," which is visible on the horizon. The NASA - Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Opportunity used its Rear Hazard-Identification Camera (or HazCam, for short) to record this Southward view at the end of a drive covering about 387 feet (such as a little less than 118 meters) and which took place on the 3.355th Martian Day (or Sol) of Opportunity's work on Mars (such as July, 2nd, 2013 on Earth). Rover planners have been driving Opportunity in reverse, with the aim of to mitigatating a little bit the normal wearand tear on the Front - and so-called - "Wheel Actuators". For scale, the distance between the two Rear Wheels visible in the foreground is about 3,3 feet (a little more than 1 meter). The underside of Opportunity's Deck is visible at the top of the image. The Surface that the Rover (MER) Opportunity is driving upon, while crossing Botany Bay, is a Mosaic Pavement of fractured, light-toned Bedrock (---> the so-called "Martian Paving" of Meridiani Planum). A mixture of dark-toned Basaltic Soil and small Spherules - nicknamed "Blueberries" - fills-up most of the Cracks existing between the Bedrock pieces and, here and there, also thinly covers some of the Bedrock itself. This frame (which is an Original NASA - Mars Exploration Rover (MER) "Opportunity" b/w image published on the NASA - Planetary Photojournal and identified by the ID n. PIA 17271) has been additionally processed, magnified and then colorized in White-Balanced Natural Colors (such as the colors that a normal - meaning "in the average" - human eye would actually perceive if someone were on the Surface of Mars, near the NASA - Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Opportunity, and then looked ahead, towards the Horizon and Sky over Endeavour Crater), by using an original technique created - and, in time, dramatically improved - by the Lunar Explorer Italia Team. ...tanto per tornare a parlare di "Scienza", per un minuto (e cioè il tempo che mi serve per scrivere questa nota): "White Balanced" (ossìa "Bilanciato sul Bianco") è solo un modo "astruso" (e pseudoscientifico) di dire che la Dominante Cromatica della Terra è "bianca", mentre quella di Marte è "rosa/arancio/marrone". Grazie NASA! Ma NOI ci eravamo già arrivati 7 - o addirittura 8 - anni fa....

Questo alla faccia di chi "sparla" di Lunexit. - paolo

Ah la butti sul serio. :-) Beh è vero il tempo non esiste. Passato, presente e futuro giacciono sullo stesso identico punto contemporaneamente. La NASA fa finta che non esistano gli altri :-)

Eheheheheheh... Caro Anakin,

diciamo che ci prova ad ignorarli, e ci riesce, nel 99,99% dei casi, perchè...è la NASA: il Verbo Incarnato sullo Spazio e "le cose dello Spazio"! Ma sono solo uomini. Fanno paccate di errori, che raramente ammettono (di solito li riconoscono solo quando qualcuno del Programma Spaziale ci lascia la pelle o una sonda da "n" milioni di dollaroni va persa o distrutta...); nelle loro pagine pubbliche scrivono - letteralmente - stupidate, infarcite di svarioni grammaticali e sintattici e con palesi errori di calcolo allorchè "provano" a convertire le miglia in Km ed i pollici in centimetri. Incontabili gli errori sulla Nomenclatura dei rilievi Marziani (e Lunari) ripresi dalle varie sonde.

Insomma: un disastro. Fanno la figura degli ignoranti, perché lasciano scrivere TUTTE le loro captions a furbi studenti paraculati della University of Arizona e della Arizona State University (e qualche altra Università "di grido). Studenti che, in USA come in Italia e nel Mondo, evidenziano colossali lacune. Concettuali, tecniche e linguistiche. E non ci vuole un "Madrelingua" per capirlo, né un Astronomo od un Astrofisico per evidenziare gli errori: basta Pazienza e Passione.

Ed è anche per questi seri e veri motivi che quando leggo qualcosa di offensivo nei riguardi di Lunexit o miei, mi viene da star male. Perché questi codardi incappucciati non sono nemmeno capaci di fare la critica costruttiva a quelli che sono i loro presunti mentori: i Ragazzi di Pasadena.
Si, è molto più facile, comodo e sicuro dare dell'incompetente a me, piuttosto che notare gli ENORMI E RIDICOLI STRAFALCIONI che caratterizzano le pagine della NASA....

Ai tempi dell'inquisizione è più semplice, per i codardi, gridare "strega" piuttosto che ammettere che l'inquisitore sbaglia (l'uso del presente non è un errore grammaticale ;)

Si Andrea, l'hai detta giusta: siamo nuovamente (ma ne siamo mai veramente usciti!?) nel Medio Evo, o poco oltre, e l'Inquisizione (Religiosa, Scientifica, Politica etc.) sta andando avanti a manetta.... Non so, ma prevedeo guai grossi.... :-)

...Carissimo Cicas, se per caso avessi ragione, allora la creazione della "Psico-Polizia" (da Orwell, "1984") è dietro l'angolo... Ma io credo che il tutto sarà molto più subdolo e pseudo-democratico. In altre parole: NESSUNO ci metterà la museruola alla bocca ed al cervello. Ce la metteremo da soli. Contenti. E' un discorso complesso. In ogni epoca ci sono cose che si posssono dire e cose che non si possono dire . Oggi, a mio parere, l'ambito della libertà di espressione si è molto ridotto, in particolare negli ultimi 15-20 anni.
