Wind effect - Sol 549

Original caption:"After Opportunity ground a hole in the rock called "Ice Cream" and conducted various scientific experiments, it took this final MI of the hole before driving away. When the image arrived, scientist discovered that the hole had been filled with dust. Apparently, a blast of wind had picked up some of the tailings produced by the grinding of the rover's rock abrasion tool and swept them back into the hole. In recent months, both Rovers have experienced the effects of wind. (...)Opportunity took this mosaic of images on Sol 549 (Aug. 9, 2005). The area shown is approx. 6 cm (about 2,4") wide. (...)".

Nota: abbiamo visionato anche noi alcune centinaia di frames (esaminarli tutti non ci è possibile) in arrivo da Opportunity e, a dispetto di quanto la NASA continua a ripetere, la presenza e l'effetto dei Venti Marziani, nella zona di Meridiani Planum, NON è riscontrabile.
Quanto riportato nella Caption NASA Originale è, a nostro parere, solo una arditissima speculazione.
